Fall is in the air. When two shirts, a sweater, jacket, two pairs of socks, boots and a scarf just isn’t enough, you know it’s getting cold. In reality, it probably is close to average for this time of year, but considering that it reached 106 degrees in Portland this summer, the adjustment is hard!

Amelia Arsenic. On Tuesday night, I took my friend Tyler to the KMFDM show where Angelspit opened. I feel like Amelia Arsenic is a kindred spirit. We are the same height and shoe size, share a love of the red cross, heraldry, red, black and white, typography and design. I had such a good time backstage with her and Zoog talking about their tour and experiences so far in the U.S. And, she made me that amazing dripping lips necklace; close-ups coming soon!

Do You Know What Day It Is? I never know the date so when I spotted this tiny vintage desktop calendar for a dollar at an estate sale this weekend, I was sold.

Thrifting Insanity. My brother is a thrifting addict and on the way through Portland last weekend, he spotted a run down building with a sale sign in the front yard. When we walked in, this is what we found. He was in heaven, but with my OCD virgo tendencies, I was obviously in hell.

Coffee and Friends. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had nonstop meetings and nights out with friends. It’s been a welcome distraction from stressful times and I’m so happy to be reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in ages. I have such a diverse, amazing group of friends including Star’s BFF, Myrrh who met me for coffee yesterday.

Capes and Cardboard Alphabets. Late nights at Nemo call for donning a cape to throw paint and cut out cardboard letters. In reality, I was wearing the cape to keep my dirndl paint-free, but still. I believe that it does possess magical powers.

How has your weekend been so far? Here in Portland, It’s sunny and beautiful, without a rain cloud in sight! It’s the first nice weekend we’ve had in months! I just had a really inspiring chat with Gala and now it’s time to get some work done.

I’d like to thank everyone who made it out to the art show at Nemo HQ on Friday. It was by far the biggest show yet with attendance pushing 500! The combination of installation pieces and brightly colored paintings are pretty stunning in person and definitely got everyone talking.

P.S. My brother and I just signed a bunch of papers earlier in the week and if everything goes as planned, it’s going to be pretty awesome. Cross your fingers for us!

Peace, Love & Nubbiness,

Every year, the Nemo girls (a.k.a. shemo) try to outdo the boys at our holiday party. This year we decided to make a calendar featuring our careers post-Nemo. I posed as a nurse since I’d require a profession that allowed me to wear red + white and lots of crosses! Thanks to the Studio Nemo girls for pulling off such an awesome shoot!

This week has been very atypical; I was out six nights straight at a wide range of events (see below!) that left me with very little home office time. Sure, I had fun, but now it’s time to play some major catch-up!

I haven’t legitimately been to the zoo in about 10 years, so when my dad offered to take me this weekend, I was pretty excited. We had a blast (and the animals didn’t seem to mind my marbled jeans and impractical footwear). Favorite animals that day: mountain goats!

While I was at the zoo, my brother called me and asked if I wanted to go to Nine Inch Nails with him. HELL YES! We met up with the Dandy Warhol’s manager at will-call and he graciously gave us not only general admission tickets, but backstage passes!

On a side note, totally unplanned, as I was walking towards him, I realized that we were both wearing WHITE JEANS. What a faux pas! I should have known better; this kind of stuff ALWAYS HAPPENS. Siamese twins?

I hadn’t been to a general admission arena concert since Marilyn Manson 10 years ago (where we both felt like we were gonna die from the crush of the audience), but luckily, the crowd was well-behaved and Trent sounded amazing. The light show was equally amazing.

Boy, does Nemo know how to throw a party! Our festivities at the Doug Fir included an appearance by some distinguished gentlemen in Boy Scouts uniforms with tiny green shorts (oh, those were the owners), a Journey song request (oh, that was me), an open bar (can we blame our rowdiness on it?), a magical lit up floor that always tempts me to do moves from the Billie Jean video, an amazingly tasty catered dinner (those mashed potatoes!!!), and best of all, good times with good friends.

At some point, a Nemo-ite found a box of black super balls that had been stashed away and we went a little crazy bouncing them around the office. After one landed in a coworker’s coffee mug and another hit a few computer monitors, we decided that enough was enough. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

I’ve been working on a big, limited edition screen printed poster…and this is the text! Haha! Okay, so it’s going to be my take on a pulp fiction cover for an upcoming show. And you’ll be the first to see it once it’s finished!

I was sooo excited to score these awesome Skullcandy type-covered headphones from a coworker. Coincidentally, they remind me very much of this Nemo shirt.

A few days ago, I noticed fellow Nemo-ite Morgan wearing a blonde wig. I realized that there were also a caveman beard and an 80s rocker hairdo on his desk so Tyler and I joined in for an impromptu photo shoot! My look is little ZZ Top, a little dirty hippie, perhaps?!
