I’ve long loved red lips and I am so happy that they are making a comeback, adorning everything from clothing to bags to books.
With perfect timing, Alice Harris just dedicated an entire book, Blow Me A Kiss to the lips featured in famous art, fashion spreads and celebrity culture. Of lips, she says, “An icon of untold pleasures, they’re synonymous with style, sex, and even scandal. Whether pursed or provocatively parted, lips have an undeniable visual power, while lipstick remains a timeless symbol of glamour and sensuality.”

Your turn: What are you obsessed with at the moment?
My life is a constant contrast between light and dark, including my wardrobe.
During the fall and winter, I revert to black layers but the second summer hits, I can’t wait to pull out my collection of bright whites. Now that it’s legitimately hot in Portland, I’ve traded in my black skinny jeans and sweaters for light layers and bare legs. I just found this linen dress at Buffalo Exchange and can’t wait to pack it along to Europe next month. Easy and breezy!
A few other white items I have my eye on include: 1. House Of Holland sunglasses, 2. Giuseppe Zanotti wedge sneakers, 3. Lisa Perry beach tote, 4. New Look backpack, 5. Tomas Maier swimsuit, 6. Zara buckle heels, 7. Holiday Magazine shirt, 8. Sheinside leaf print tunic, and 9. Moschino belt.
Are there any summer wardrobe staples that you can’t live without?

I’m a self-proclaimed notebook fanatic and have three to four in use at any given time. Even with so much technology at my fingertips, I’m a fan of making handwritten lists and thumbnail sketches. I just discovered Studio Sarah notebooks and am loving the simplicity of the design paired with gold foil accents.
If you’re on the hunt for a fresh notebook, these are a few of my favorites:
1. Studio Sarah, 2. Garance Doré for Rifle Paper Co., 3. P.S. 12, 4. Ogami, 5. Russell + Hazel, 6. Rifle Paper Co., 7. Tucker, 8. Julia Kostreva and 9. Magma.
Have an awesome Monday! I just got back to Portland this afternoon and am excited to get settled back in with Joey and Rocky.
Vases. Totes. Tees. Breasts seem to be popping up on everything imaginable! I grabbed onto the coattails of the trend when I walked into the Kelly Wearstler store and spotted this top, based on one of her sculptures.
Here are a few of my favorite boob-covered accoutrements to enrich your life: 1. Jonathan Adler Luciana Vase, 2. Gravel & Gold Boob Top, 3. Kelly Wearstler Pink Fountain Bust Tee and 4. Gravel & Gold Boob Tote.
What do you think of the trend? Yay or nay?
I take nearly every photo on this blog and while my white dining room floor makes a good backdrop for most of them, it does get boring. To add some visual interest to my photos, I picked up a set of Kaleido Trays a few months back. They were definitely an investment but since then, they’ve been the perfect prop, whether I’m snapping a product shot or using them alongside my design projects.
The thing to note about the trays is the quality — these aren’t flimsy, molded plastic. They’re powder coated steel. Designed in 2012 by Clara von Zweigbergk for HAY (aren’t all of their products awesome?!), I now find myself using them nearly every day, whether it’s to hold a vase of flowers, brighten up the guest room or be a catch-all near my desk.
The great thing about Kaleido Trays is that you can buy singles or the full set. It’s up to you.
Keleido Trays are available at Design Within Reach.
