Monday, October 20th, 2008Over the last few weeks, I’ve been tightening up my company’s identity. Usually, when you get busy with a job and freelance clients on the side, the first work to get tossed to the side is your own. I decided that it was time that all of my correspondence materials matched and since I already […]

Designers of Distinction #2: Stina Persson
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008Stina is an illustrator based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her organic, saturated use of watercolors, acrylics and ink have won her a client list including Coca Cola, Nike, Target, Nylon and Harper’s Bazaar.
A recent series of photo-incorporated works is especially prolific, melding her eye for color with the striking images of fashion photographers.

Marimekko Autum/Winter 2008/09
Sunday, September 7th, 2008
The Marimekko clothing line designed by Samu-Jussi Koski features many prints from the archives but he keeps the collection current with modern, comfortable silhouettes. To me, Marimekko strikes the perfect balance between being fun and timeless.

Haus Beautiful: New Additions
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008Today, I’d like to share a few of my favorite new house-related purchases. One of the places I religiously visit when I’m in New York is Fish’s Eddy, which has the best selection of dishes, both vintage relics from restaurants and airlines in addition to clever new offerings. This time, a small tray resembling a […]
POM Wonderful: Pure Genius Advertising
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008I’ve been a POM drinker for years, but I’ll admit that it was the logo emblazoned with a big, red heart and the mod packaging that originally drew me in!
POM Wonderful is a privately owned company and brand of pomegranate juice, advertised as one of the most powerful naturally-occurring antioxidants. It is sold in distinctive […]

I Love The Chesterfield PDX!
Sunday, May 11th, 2008The Chesterfield is my new favorite hangout in Portland for a multitude of reasons…
My dad stopped by there a few months ago and called me the next day, telling me that he’d found my place. He just knew that I’d love it! The music, cool furniture, deep red walls, gourmet food and clean bathrooms all immediately […]
Tools of The Trade: LaCie Brick External Hard Drive
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008
Is it a lego? Is it a hard drive?!
I just became the proud owner of a LaCie Brick external hard drive and I couldn’t be happier with it! I first noticed it on my friend Star’s blog and loved the looks of it. It also has 500 GB of space and is super affordable!
It’s such […]
Rocket Restaurant, PDX
Monday, April 7th, 2008
One of my favorite new restaurants in Portland is Rocket. I was out with my dad last week and it was an accidental discovery (there’s very little signage and you have to take an elevator tucked away in an enclave of the building to the top floor).
The first thing I noticed when I sat down at […]
EFF YOU MOTHER EFFER Shirt
Saturday, March 29th, 2008Lee Z desiged The ‘EFF YOU MOTHER ‘EFFER shirt and it changed my life. I used to feel so plain, so ordinary, but the second I slipped this shirt on, my looks improved dramatically (see below). Yes, the shirt caused my nose to grow and a huge black mustache to sprout. Awesome!
Adult sizes of […]
Love at First Sight: Panton Heart Chair
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008
Be still, my beating heart. Designed in 1959, the Panton Heart Chair was both futuristic and shocking… so much so that when it was exhibited in a shop window in New York City police had to order its removal due to the traffic chaos its presence created (hive modern). You can view the full Vitra […]
Welcome to the Family: Baby Treeson
Monday, February 11th, 2008
I’m pretty picky about the toys I buy, but Baby Treeson recently caught my eye. He’s tiny (only three inches tall!), snow white, and covered in pointy nubs. He’s now sitting on my desk and I think he’s the cutest ever! Treeson is a kind creature and he was brought up by trees in a […]

Oh, the Glossy Black Glee.
Monday, January 28th, 2008
I was flipping through this month’s Domino when an offer near the back of the issue caught my attention: Modern Dose was offering a buy one, get one free special (with free shipping!) on these S shaped chairs. So, as you can see from the below dramatization, I now have two of these:
Modern Dose’s version is inspired by […]
The Art Of Sewing: Judging a Book By Its Cover Part 3
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008
I recently thrifted this book solely for the cover because I was won over by the mod fabric (charmingly glued on slightly crooked). This is from a series of sewing books TIME-LIFE released in 1973. The beautiful typography on the spine continues throughout the entire inside…

I Love My Sigg!
Tuesday, January 15th, 2008
Recently, I became the proud owner of a Sigg aluminum bottle. Made in Switzerland, they come in a wide variety of sizes and patterns. From the Sigg site: Produced from a single component that is seamless and has no comparable weak points, SIGG bottles are tremendously durable and virtually unbreakable.

For the last year, I’ve head stories […]
Tiny Things.
Monday, January 14th, 20081. It’s all about the little things these days. I’ve been receiving so many nice comments over here on the blog lately and it’s been great meeting other positive bloggers who are also into fashion and design. So thank you!
2. Tiphanie Brooke of Antigirl has done it again! I am totally swooning over her beautiful Lithopads. […]
For The Love of Woodgrain
Wednesday, January 9th, 2008
Woodgrain describes the alignment, texture and appearance of the wood fibres. (wikipedia). In Oregon, it’s true that there’s trees everywhere. In the last few years though, ‘woodsiness’ has gone mainsteam. Woodgrain patterns are now printed on items including curtains and hoodies, patterned onto faux wood, and in the heart of Portland, we even have a […]
