What’s In My Bag: Spring 2009

What’s in your bag? What you carry inside of your bag says a lot about you; it really is an extension of your personality. Even though it’s a bit voyeuristic, I love seeing what other people have hidden away in their bags. The color combinations, items and level of organization can speak volumes.
Every six months or so, it feels right to do one of these posts again (previous editions can be found here, here and here). Recently, I started using the Miu Miu Goddess bag from 2007 to carry my laptop. It’s been working out amazingly well having everything that I need in one place (I was previously lugging around both a tote and purse).
Contents include: Apple MacBook (not shown), Moleskine limited edition planner, YSL Y-Mail wallet, H&M coin purse, Samsung Blackjack, MAC Lipglass in Entice, MAC lipstick in Honeylove, MAC Pro Lash mascara and Studio Fix, Clinique Superbalm, Marc Jacobs heart mirror, Lolita business card case, Stabilo felt-tip pen, Mouth With Pill stickers and various keys.
What kind of bag are you using and what are your must-have essentials?

I was going to ask what car you have too! Would I be right to guess it’s red though? Hehe. My bag is a mess at the moment, I can’t wait to finish my finals and sort it out. It really is an extension of what’s going on in your brain - when I’m stressed, it gets really messy.

I also have a giant black leather purse (BCBG - gorgeous!) which is large enough to hold my 13” MacBook. I love not having to lug around a separate laptop case, and think my purse is a perfectly sized bag. Everyone else thinks it is HUGE. I don’t get it…how does anyone get around with a teeny tiny bag?
hillary: You’re so thoughtful! I like your Tory Burch, she has some great stuff. I’ve been wanting one of her little resin clutches for ages.
abbee: This is actually my first ‘big black bag’ and now I wonder how I lived without it! As much as I love my white ones, they’re impossible to keep clean.
grace: Up close, mine are pretty beat up. I have four in constant rotation and they still have smudges, scrapes and pen marks! I was told that leather cleaner for FURNITURE works really well and I used some and it’s true! Can’t remember the brand. I’m sure that someone out there will say that this is a big no-no but I haven’t found anything better.
Helen: My fave color is actually green and I’ve always had green Jettas! Dark green….though if I had a cute classic car, it would def. be red!

Lesley Denford: If you’re busy and have to carry a laptop, there’s no way around the big bag. I was carrying two bags at all times and it’s much easier to have one massive one. Plus, designer purses are way more stylish than dorky laptop bags!!!

I love how your stuff is always so coordinated and stylized! I’m envious! As for my bag, it’s a black satin-y tote with a gold robot on the front and pale gold lining. I have a big black wallet, a little skull makeup bag I hold pills and lotion and a nail file and other junk in. sunglasses (essential), ipod, digital camera, a bus schedule, a reusable target bag and a mini file folder. I’ve always wanted to do one of these photo things where you photography everything in your bag… For some reason, I never have.
B: I’m pretty sure they are. The complete line was still available when I visited the YSL boutique in Honolulu 2 months ago.
didi: I originally had the red one also but it broke! I bought both the red and silver versions at the Marc by Marc store in the West Village.

your style is so freakin’ rad …lol. I use an Aldo Red pleather rectangular tote. Inside Ive got my red Club Rochelier leather wallet, my Jackie O Oleg Cassini sunglasses, keys, pink comb, tic tacs, Kleenex packet, yellow highlighter pen, Chanel compact, Burt’s Bees lip chap, Covergirl Outlast lipstain, my mp3 player, a pen, a pencil, an eraser(it’s exam time) and my cell phone. Yes, I carry around way too much stuff.

I just got a new bag so it’s not full of junk like my old one! My old one was just this huuuuge Topshop one but the zip busted :,(
I didn’t mourn for long cos my shiny new black Marc Jacobs Stam bag arrived in the post a few days later! All I have in it now is my pencil case (whats in my pencil case is a whole other story) house keys, bf’s house keys and a fake but pretty Gucci wallet.
I put an “I believe in Harvey Dent badge” and my pill in mouth badge on there too :D

I totally covet that Miu Miu bag. Is it still available? Where is the best place to buy one?
Sarah: I had to track this model down on Ebay since it was 2 years old. THe Miu Miu boutiques have the best selection.

I’m using a denim LV right now, inside it are the following: make up case with make up of course, wallet, comb, cellphone, note pad/pen and house/car keys. by the way, i loooove your miu miu bag.
