Moleskine Helvetica Edition!
by Nubby, 12.21.08 at 11:31 pm :: permalink :: rss

Behold the most perfect Moleskine in existence! Most of you know about my infatuation with Moleskines and Helvetica. When I found out that the two had been merged into one piece of perfection, I immediately wanted one! Fellow reader Lauryn just answered my wishes and sent one over! Amazing.

These limited edition Moleskines were produced by the Helvetica Project especially for an exhibit at LaForet in Harajuku where a temporary “Helvetica Shop” selling products related to the font was set up.

It goes without saying that I will not be using this. It’s my version of the bible and is way to sacred to be written in by a mere mortal! I’m serious.

I love you so much.
Gala: Guess what? All I can think about is our birthday party! Which must make me totally nuts considering that it’s over 9 months away! Ahh, can’t wait to see you in Feb. or March!!!
December 21st, 2008 at 11:58 pm
OOOO a Helvetica Moleskine edition?!!! How divine!!!
December 22nd, 2008 at 2:39 am
Oh wow, red, helvetica, moleskine *and* a swiss cross?! It’s like they knew!!
*shifty eyes*
December 22nd, 2008 at 2:41 am
That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m rather jealous, and I don’t think I could bring myself to actually write in it either!
December 22nd, 2008 at 6:01 am
When I saw Star’s I immedietly thought you would love it. I am so jealous! I was dying for one too.
December 22nd, 2008 at 8:43 am
Gorgeous. I keep seeing this around & LOVE it!
December 22nd, 2008 at 9:16 am
I love this! I want one, too!
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:11 am
I saw this on Star’s blog and was just amazed. its really beautiful, super jealous!
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:35 am
I’m so glad you received it so quickly! I can’t even bring myself to take mine out of the packaging let alone write in it. I feel like it has to be filled with something brilliant!

nubby those glasses are totes gorg in 2 posts below this one. you NEED to wear them more.
whats so fab about moleskins? im just wondering b/c u & gala rave about them.
also how do you make your words all nice & bold like you do under ur pix?
what about making them where you click on the word & then it sends you to the link?
ie: “click HERE and purch the merch!” then you click on the word “HERE” & it sends you to the link. *thanks http://www.fredflare.com for the awesomeness quote.*
Hannahbelle: I know!!! It’s truly amazing.
Lauryn: I am forever grateful for your generosity. This is like the best gift EVER.
eleanor: Moleskines have nice paper, a secret pocket in the back and I am a huge fan of their daily planners. They also come in tons of styles and sizes with all different papers. The gray words are image links that I make in PS. And, any HTML tutorial can teach you the basics with linking pictures, etc.
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:27 pm
thanks nubby. i think i will check out the moleskin. they seem very nice & i was just wondering about them. i have a planner but i like almost never look @ it. & thanks for the other stuff too. :)
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:59 pm
I felt the same way about it, so I ended up buying two; one to keep and one to use.
December 23rd, 2008 at 1:55 am
Love it! Have you seen this t-shirt available at Threadless? My bf got it for me for xmas! I’m so excited! http://www.threadless.com/product/1587/Shredded_A
Lara: That shirt is AMAZING. Thanks for the link!
December 23rd, 2008 at 11:02 am
I think my little internet crush on you just doubled.
+ of course I now must have one, too.
December 23rd, 2008 at 1:18 pm
How does it look on the inside?
Bunny: It’s actually just plain ruled sheets with Helvetica-related information printed on the insides of the front and back covers.
December 29th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
I just got my daily planner. This may seem like a silly question, but do you write in pencil or ink. It just seemed that the ink was bleeding through. If you use ink, what type of pen do you use?
Elizabeth: I just use a regular ballpoint pen. No particular brand.
February 8th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Absolutely stunning. Perfectly suited for type design sketches.
February 8th, 2009 at 10:43 am
So, wait, you mean these aren’t available for sale anymore?!
I want one of these more than ANYthing else right now. Where on earth can I get one?!!!
If anyone happens to have bought one from the exhibition and doesn’t like it anymore, I reckon there’s one or two people here who’ll be happy to take it off your hands…
These should so go into production on a slightly larger scale.
Helvetica on Red is the new black.

As a long time lover of all things red and moleskine, as well as gorgeous swiss and typographic, this has to be the pinacle! My jealousy is consuming me. Woe is me, stuck in a small town, an obscure part of the design world.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:40 am
Helvetica in all its manifestations is to be detested – a notebook bought in order to be kept and admired is a waste of resources – type can be designed anywhere – Martin Majoor famously designed Seria on a napkin
