Tools of The Trade: LaCie Brick External Hard Drive

Is it a lego? Is it a hard drive?!
I just became the proud owner of a LaCie Brick external hard drive and I couldn’t be happier with it! I first noticed it on my friend Star’s blog and loved the looks of it. It also has 500 GB of space and is super affordable!

It’s such a relief to finally have my computer backed up and the Brick is extremely user friendly. I had it out of the box and up and running in less than five minutes. Finally, this is one hard drive you won’t be embarrassed to keep out on your desk.

I’ve been wanting this back-up drive for ages! Sadly, though, I’m not sure my IT boy friends have given it their seal of approval yet (I think it’s because they couldn’t positively ID the manufacturer of the hard-drive… does it happen to say on the box?).

I was thinking about purchasing the LaCie, but I’ve read reviews that it’s kind of nosy. I think I want it because of the cuteness factor.

Ashe: It’s made by LaCie.
Shanel: You know what? I read a review saying it was noisy also, but was pleasantly surprised. It’s not silent, but it’s also nothing that noticeable! I don’t keep mine plugged in all the time- just to do an occasional backup so that wasn’t an issue anyway.

Oh, you gem! I’ve been meaning to get a hard drive for a year (literally) and that one looks perfect! A little out of my price range, but you can’t really put a price on years of photos & documents! I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to all my precious files, haha. x

mine is loud, but only when it makes contact with my desk, and the desk amplifies it.
I solved this problem by propping the front up slightly.
To retain geek factor, I propped it up with a lego.

Aimee Marie: I didn’t do much other research, but about $130.00 for 500 GB seemed pretty reasonable.
star: You’re so crafty!! I didn’t notice the noise people are mentioning, but kept it on the floor…

I have this on my desk and it looks cool but it is too noisy. I hear the hum now…hummm!
