Calendar Design Preview

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I’m in the middle of designing a calendar for a school project. Since this screenshot, I’ve narrowed down the ideas and have moved on to setting up tables in inDesign. Once it’s finished, I hope to get a downloadable version up! It will be the size of a CD case…

The Bold & the Beautiful.

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I love the simplicity of these book covers. Bold, clean design is always so classic! Also, I just found a rug for my kitchen in the ‘new’ section of Goodwill (which seems a bit ironic!) and I love it. These days, I’m feeling inspired by clean lines, bold colors, and design that gets the information across […]

Oh, the Glossy Black Glee.

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I was flipping through this month’s Domino when an offer near the back of the issue caught my attention: Modern Dose was offering a buy one, get one free special (with free shipping!) on these S shaped chairs. So, as you can see from the below dramatization, I now have two of these:

Wishing for…

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Spring.
And green.
And flowers.
(The reality: bundled up in an 80s reindeer sweater in my office, trying to keep warm.)

The Art Of Sewing: Judging a Book By Its Cover Part 3

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I recently thrifted this book solely for the cover because I was won over by the mod fabric (charmingly glued on slightly crooked). This is from a series of sewing books TIME-LIFE released in 1973. The beautiful typography on the spine continues throughout the entire inside…

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Do you want to be a graphic designer but aren’t sure what to expect? The path of discovery happens at different times and speeds for all of us. Below, I share my story about how I got involved in design. Also included are some general insights into the process and why schooling can be beneficial.

Staying Home is SO Underrated.

Monday, January 21st, 2008

My favorite corner is in the living room. It’s really cozy and framed by two massive windows facing the street. The chair was bought years ago off the Target website. The ‘A’ was a gift from my brother; it used to be part of a Honda sign! You’ll probably recognize the light and rug from […]

Outfits to Die For!

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

It’s no secret that I love clothes, though I try not to obsess over clothing; life is too short! When I get dressed, it’s more about being artistic and making myself feel good in the morning. Also, I am all for practicality. I usually layer like mad, with a thin black tunic on the top […]

The Glamorous Life

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

I know that it’s time to go grocery shopping when I’m eating ramen for dinner. Why is shopping for clothes infinitely more enjoyable?! It’s not like I need them to live or anything…

What I Wore: 1.17.08

Friday, January 18th, 2008

In the background is the newly revamped photo studio at Nemo. Beautiful, isn’t it?! The floors are now white and sealed in a shiny epoxy. I wanted to show off my new favorite shirt by fellow Nemo graphic designer Andy, who also runs Tribute Skateboards. I’m proud to be a Portland People Eater, whatever that means!

Oh, Gala!

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

This morning, as I was in a mad rush to scroll through Google Reader before running out the door, Melobourne-based blogging guru Gala Darling greeted me on the screen modeling her amazing new long blue locks with my Golden Flats tank! What a nice way to start off the day…

Kiss Me Deadly

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

I was invited to participate in the upcoming SUPERTRASH event, which is film fest that combines fantasy, sci-fi, horror, action, live burlesque and a special art exhibit sponsored by Fantagraphics Books. The exhibition part of the festival revolves around the premise of taking a pre-existing movie and remaking an 11 x 17 inch poster. I […]

I Love My Sigg!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Recently, I became the proud owner of a Sigg aluminum bottle. Made in Switzerland, they come in a wide variety of sizes and patterns. From the Sigg site: Produced from a single component that is seamless and has no comparable weak points, SIGG bottles are tremendously durable and virtually unbreakable.
