What I Wore: Citrus and Stripes at The Parker Palm Springs

Has the freezing cold, wintery weather hit where you are? It sure has in Portland! While it’s great for getting work done (who wants to be outside?!), I am really missing Palm Springs. As you know, I have a serious love affair with the place and Joey and I are buying land there next year to start building our eventual dream home.

Until that happens, I’ll be here dreaming of clear, sunny skies, palm trees, fresh-picked lemons and beautiful sunsets. I hope these photos cheer you up!

Whenever I’m in Palm Springs, I head over to The Parker for brunch at Norma’s and a walk through the lush, tropical grounds complete with hammocks, a lemonade stand and a human-sized chess set. The surroundings feel like a midcentury modern take on Alice In Wonderland.

One of the biggest draws of The Parker is that the property was revamped by Jonathan Adler in 2004. His kitschy design style can be spotted around every corner but the most recognizable element is the DRUGS sign you’ve undoubtedly seen pop up in your Instagram feed more times than you can count. The first time I visited in 2012, I was plotting out the launch of my own design studio and it’s easy to see the direct influence the styling had on Branch. The bright, citrus hues accented with modern touches influenced everything from the branding to the color palette.

When I’m in Portland, I stick to a very graphic, black and white color palette but when I hit Palm Springs, I love slipping into bright colors and modern silhouettes. Aren’t the grounds around the hotel beautiful?

Cheer up with these citrusy hues: 1. ASOS flared-sleeve dress, 2. Kimchi Blue backpack, 3. Birkenstock sandals, 4. and 5. Floss Gloss nail polish, 6. Ed Sheeran LP, 7. Binchotan toothbrush, 8. Saucony Grid 9000 sneakers and 9. Out From Under maxi dress.

Thanks for joining me on this journey through my home away from home!
