Hello from Palm Springs! I’ve missed all of you! This has been an action-packed week filled with an anniversary shoot with Joey and Rocky, Designer Vaca and plenty of reconnecting with creative friends old and new.
Arriving in Palm Springs always feels like walking into a parallel life. It’s a life I love and dream about all the time full of relaxation, sunshine and friendly folks around every corner.
I visit Palm Springs a few times each year but this time since I was in town for a full week, I wanted to mix things up even more. We drove out to the Salton Sea and on the way home, lounged under rows of date trees. There’s so much beauty to discover in the desert.
This time, I played a bit of hotel musical chairs switching places every two days to keep the atmosphere fresh. Halfway through my stay, I moved over to the Ace which has one of the best pools in town. In between Designer Vaca talks, this was our home base, with plenty of late nights catching up in the hot tub.
I’d been having serious withdrawals from Chubs so it made my day when my friend Jessica surprised me with a golden squirrel figurine. Best gift ever!
Then, our friend Meg of Darn Good popped up on Instagram one night, crafting s’mores from the fire pit on her private patio. It was a sign. A half hour later, Jessica, Meg and I were gorging ourselves on freshly roasted marshmallows. Dreams do come true.
Jessica’s power color is pink, obviously. Joey and I even drove her by the pink-doored house.
The best wall in town is always at the entrance of The Parker.
The ingredients for a perfect day in Palm Springs: an Instax camera, fresh lemonade and plenty of photo booth moments with friends at the Ace.
Every year, the mural at the Ace changes and this one is my most favorite yet.
Breakfast at Norma’s is always a highlight of my stay. I’ve tried a bit of everything but those waffles are my top pick.
Joey and Rocky feel right at home surrounded by the midcentury modern kitsch of The Parker.
Cactus portraits never get old.
This house is around the corner from Elvis and Priscilla’s honeymoon hideaway and I’m OBSESSED.
I love this Cadillac so much. It’s usually parked outside of Caliente Tropics, a tiki-themed hotel that was once frequented by Frank Sinatra and Elvis. With Brianna and Rachel as my witnesses, this is one of the best pool parities in town full of epic costumes and tiki drinks.
When I want to really relax and unwind, I head over to Avalon Palm Springs and hang out poolside. If boutique hotels are your jam, they have some of the most stylish digs around.
On the topic of Palm Springs, I’ve been working on a detailed travel guide for ages (there’s a lot to cover!) and it’s nearly done so if you want more of the inside scoop, tune in later this month. And with that, I’m off to LA for the day to visit some more friends. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! xo
