Hi, everyone! How was your week? I’m looking forward to a long holiday weekend here in the U.S. for the 4th of July and hope you’re managing to squeeze in a little break from the daily grind, too. To be completely honest, adjusting to a regular routine after a few weeks abroad has been much harder than I expected. It’s been nearly 100 degrees every day since I got home to Portland (finally broke down and bought an air conditioner for the office!) and the intense head coupled with major jet lag has completely wiped me out.

New York was the perfect place to end my travels last week — I lived it up for the two nights I was in town, hitting a silent disco, doing themed shots at Barcelona Bar with friends and squeezing in a few coffee dates. Even with all that action, I had invites to a vampire-themed karaoke night and a rave at a Chinese restaurant that I didn’t make it to. And, that’s precisely what I love most about New York — it’s full of randomness and adventure is lurking around every corner.

On another note, I keep hearing fantastic things about El Luchador (above) in the South Street Seaport. Plus, the outdoor area features a vintage Airstream trailer you can eat in. Adding it to my must-do list for next time.

A new discovery for me was Le District. French-themed, it’s full of delicious booths, groceries, a restaurant and bar and best of all, a crepe stand…which didn’t go so well for Gala!

It’s always fun to browse through Kirna Zabete — they have awesome pop art on the walls and plenty of colorful fashion and jewels to ogle.

Whenever I’m in town, I stay with Bianca on Wall Street and always enjoy this view when walking to the subway.

Jetlagged, I woke up early and did some weekend browsing through Soho with Gala including a stop at Kartell. So much great furniture, so little time!

I’m always up for photo booth fun with Kat. She’s like a sister I never had….though if you have a sister, I don’t recommend choking her! Haha.

After a few days of living it up in New York and trying to forget about my lost luggage (stuffed with the most amazing Moroccan blankets — wahhh!), it was time to head home. It’s really, really good to be back. I’ve been making more of an effort to reach out to people I admire and have inspiring conversations. Skype is a wonderful thing! Just this week, I brainstormed on two new projects I’m super excited about. One is a digital course and the other is focused on giving back to the community in really unique ways — I’ll have more to share on both as they develop.

I’m signing off for the holiday weekend but I wanted to leave you with this quote on the topic of collaboration:

”As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.” —Amy Poehler
