Hi, how have you been? I always love doing these more personal posts because it gives me the chance to connect with you, like we’re old friends sitting down at our favorite coffee shop to catch up on life. Even though I blogged less these last few weeks, that time offline has been a bit of a blur between meetings, proposals, more time on the phone than I’m comfortable with (ha) on top of an office photo shoot. Needless to say, I’m currently packing for a much needed mini vacation.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was trying to get out more, explore my own city and meet like-minded folks. Well, the universe must have heard me because over the last week, I met up an amazing artist visiting from San Francisco, an old friend, Kat from Melbourne and an LA lady that just moved to town. That’s translated to a lot of coffee and dinner dates!
With all of the long days that have been going on around here, I’m checking out for a bit to head to my home away from home, Palm Springs. Sun, pool time, palm trees and friendly folks — it doesn’t get much better than that. If you’re interested, here are links to the clutch and tank.
I recently met up with Afsoon Zizia and loved her work so much (that beautiful magazine pictured above was a school project!) that we partnered up on a photo shoot of the Branch studio yesterday. Excited to show you more soon!
I keep talking to folks who want to work on side projects but say that they just don’t have the time. My advice? Break it up into micro steps. One of the things I wanted to improve on this year were my still life compositions. I set the goal to feature one new image per week and while not all of them have worked out perfectly, it’s a small way to hold myself accountable. Feel free to join in the fun!
One restaurant I’ve been frequenting a lot lately is Sen Yai, the noodle-focused branch of Pok Pok. The inside is pretty cute, too.
It’s been fun showing visiting friends around my side of S.E. Portland. Also, you can’t go wrong with dinner at The Woodsman.
Have a great weekend, everyone! I can’t wait to get outside, explore and shoot some fun things around Palm Springs to share with you. xo
