How was your week? Mine was nuts….in the best way possible. Hey, I’ll take excitement over boredom any day — the real fun happens when life keeps you on your toes!
A few things that have been happening over here: I’ve been working on some really cool new projects including two e-books, yesterday was my intern’s first day (hi, Samantha!) and this morning, I was photographed by a magazine I’ve subscribed to for years. Surreal and nerve-wracking.
Here are some snapshots from the last week — thanks for tuning in!
Whenever I have someone coming in for meetings or work, I always do a pastry run and try to have fresh flowers around. When you think about the best places you ever worked, it probably had a lot to do with small, thoughtful gestures.
Chubs is as wild and crazy as ever. Trust me, there were a solid 20 outtakes of a blurred tail flying through the air before this shot!
When I moved into my house six years ago, I took a chance and painted my room matte black. A paint color (or lack thereof!) is one of those things that’s hard to gauge until you live with it for a bit…but I’m still loving it! My room is super simple with no TV, colors or excess furniture and it’s so much more relaxing that way.
I’m adding more bits and pieces to the Branch wall, dreaming and visualizing and figuring out what’s next. New collateral, an updated portfolio and a rebuilt website will roll out later this summer.
I’m a bit obsessed with this orange bench I found on Overstock. They have some amazing midcentury modern furniture reproductions and if you sign up, the coupons are awesome. It’s my new favorite place to shop for house stuff because the product reviews are really comprehensive and the shipping is lightning fast. #winning
This morning, I drove downtown to get photographed for an upcoming issue of one of my favorite fashion magazines. It comes out in August and I figured a little neon was more exciting than my usual head-to-toe black. 😉
It was nice to have an excuse to dress up and I met some wonderful Portland ladies at the shoot. Lately, I’ve been working on getting out more, reaching out to old friends and contacts and setting up coffee dates. It’s been nice for a change. Like many of you, I often end up in a very regimented routine and that leads to the same old view, commute and meals day after day. It’s when you veer away from the expected that the magic happens. On that note, I’ll leave you with this quote:
“I not only inherited an aversion to the nine-to-five routine, but the sense from my parents that being bored and boring is the worst thing that you can be.” —Christian Bale
See you next week!
