How was your week? I’ll be honest, I felt pretty out of sorts (hence the lack of posts). Joey’s been in San Francisco which means that I’ve been home taking care of the little ones. I know that babysitting a dog and a squirrel doesn’t even remotely compare to having human babies but damn, it’s a lot of work! Stay-at-home moms, I have so much respect for what you do on a daily basis.
Staying at home for a change has been good in a way because it’s given me a lot more time to slow down and think, whereas when I’m at the office, I’m in 100% work mode. There were so many great articles I read this week that had me thinking about asking yourself what you really want and avoiding the comparison trap. If you have a few free minutes, dig in!
Do you have a work uniform that you gravitate towards? During the warmer months, mine is usually a white t-shirt, black skinny jeans and sneaker wedges. Since the weather has finally gotten nicer, I just stocked up on some new tees — this one is my current favorite, which reminds me of the Prada Sport logo! And, it’s quite fitting since I still pepper my sentences with “rad” and “awesome” and “like” all the time, thanks to being in high school during the 90s.
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been in the Branch studio space a solid six months now. It feels like just yesterday that I was moving in! I get nostalgic all the time and snap photos of the space because I feel like things are shifting really fast. Our lead developer Star is coming in next week — we met in 2001 on Live Journal (holla!) and she coded up my first-ever WordPress blog. Talk about going waaaay back!
I just tried Alma Chocolate for the first time and just…wow. Their branding, their chocolate, their adorable little shop — it’s all so perfect. If you’re in Portland, stop in. Rumor has it that they also have some of the best homemade chocolate chip cookies in town, though I didn’t have a chance to try them. Go, go, go!
Chubs loves being the center of attention and was begging me to post a photo of him here. 😉 The truth is, everyone is clamoring for more squirrel photos but he’s nearly impossible to photograph. Imagine feeding your baby a dozen cookies and then having them wash it all down with 5 bottles’ worth of Kool-Aid. That’s basically Chubs at any given moment. Most of my photos are of a tail flying through the air!
I can’t believe it’s April already. As I was sitting home this week, it started to sink in that a lot of the goals I’d set at the starting of the year had sort of fallen through the cracks because I’d been wrapped up in completing one project after another — or, in some cases, like this week, literally handing off three separate websites at once for development. It’s been that kind of pace since January 1st! I feel that for the most part, we are in control of what happens in our lives. We have a say in the people we spend our time with, where we decide to dedicate our time and what we decide is worth going after. There’s a lot of outreach, classes and digital products I want to be doing yet I’ve barely made a dent and it’s time to change that. If you have personal projects you’re wanting to do, it’s up to you to carve out the time, even if it’s 10 minutes here and there. The point is to get started.
I know this post is getting long…and you have a weekend to enjoy! These are just some things that have been on my mind lately. I hope you have some fun plans — Rocky, Chubs and I are hanging out around the house putting the finishing touches on my newly decorated room (I have a big reveal and fun giveaway happening soon — stay tuned!) and reading fashion magazines.
Sending lots of love your way. xo
