Hi, how was your week? The highlight of mine was visiting the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest (photos below!) and hanging out at my family’s campsite. Besides that, I spent way too much time in my office (I’m getting ready for a two week trip), finally tried the Roman Candle homemade granola (two thumbs way up!) and oh yeah, celebrated my 33rd birthday! It was a good one.
Even though we’ve had scorching hot days here, the mornings are cooler and breezier. I’m starting to feel the change of seasons and in turn, throwing oversized sweaters over my sleeveless dresses. This one is brand new from Forever 21 (thanks for the gift card, dad!) and is super cozy.
My birthday was over the weekend so I took Saturday off and visited the Oktoberfest in Mt. Angel. It’s an hour drive from Portland and every year, my family drives out and camps for three days. I just made the day trip, hitting all the food booths (homemade ice cream and corn on the cob are two must-haves) and then spent the afternoon visiting with my grandparents. The heat was pretty intense so I asked my grandma to borrow a hat…and she brought out this fringed number! Next year is the 50th anniversary so I hope to see you there!
As I was sitting around camp, I noticed that quite a few family members were drinking beer out of vintage steins. Even though I’m not a beer drinker, I was feeling envious. After asking around, I found out that the Mt. Angel blacksmith turns into a store selling German gear during Oktoberfest and they have shelves of vintage steins! This was my pick.
Chubs likes to take off and climb to the top of our curtains. Then, he just hangs there and mocks us when we can’t reach him. I love his expression here! Priceless.
I’m off to pack my bags for New York. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
