When it comes to jewelry, I’m no Elizabeth Taylor. Truth be told, I’ve always been a little intimated by the nice stuff. In a way, it just felt too proper and grown up so I shied away from it. Because of that, most of the jewelry I own is either H&M or Zara and low quality. I’ve got piles of the stuff, complete with broken clasps, missing beads and busted chains.
I’ve stepped it up with the rest of my accessories game including shoes and purses but jewelry felt like quite the leap. I needed a push in the right direction because every time I walked into boutiques, I would get overwhelmed by all the choices (so much shine! so much pretty!) and walk out empty-handed.
When independent jeweler Katie Waltman got in touch, it felt like the right time to move towards more classic pieces that I could wear on an everyday basis without feeling like I was stepping into a costume party. And, I felt good knowing that each piece was handmade in the U.S.
I gravitated towards this wishbone necklace because of its simplicity and symbolism. A wishbone represents a wish or desire. Symbolically, if it is unbroken it means that your wish will be fulfilled in the near future. There are a lot of things I’m wishing for and working towards right now. Since I’m such a visual person, like many of you, I tend to embrace outward reminders.
