The Jewelry Diaries: Stepping Up My Accessories Game Plus A Special Offer

When it comes to jewelry, I’m no Elizabeth Taylor. Truth be told, I’ve always been a little intimated by the nice stuff. In a way, it just felt too proper and grown up so I shied away from it. Because of that, most of the jewelry I own is either H&M or Zara and low quality. I’ve got piles of the stuff, complete with broken clasps, missing beads and busted chains.

I’ve stepped it up with the rest of my accessories game including shoes and purses but jewelry felt like quite the leap. I needed a push in the right direction because every time I walked into boutiques, I would get overwhelmed by all the choices (so much shine! so much pretty!) and walk out empty-handed.

When independent jeweler Katie Waltman got in touch, it felt like the right time to move towards more classic pieces that I could wear on an everyday basis without feeling like I was stepping into a costume party. And, I felt good knowing that each piece was handmade in the U.S.

I gravitated towards this wishbone necklace because of its simplicity and symbolism. A wishbone represents a wish or desire. Symbolically, if it is unbroken it means that your wish will be fulfilled in the near future. There are a lot of things I’m wishing for and working towards right now. Since I’m such a visual person, like many of you, I tend to embrace outward reminders.

Gala: You take such pride in the jewelry you pick out and wear and I admire that. I want to invest in special pieces that actually have meaning and hold up. It’s time!

What a perfect little chain to start you off on the upgraded jewelry game! Not only a gorgeous piece, but something with a lovely meaning behind it as well. I’m sure you’ll cherish that beauty for many years to come.

P.S. Your little marble trays, they’re H&M right? I’m going bonkers over here since they don’t carry them in Canada and I have soooo much tray envy! I need to hire a tray mule to smuggle them across the border for me! haha.

The Katie Waltman site has beautiful jewelry! Is it really only 30% off one piece? I’m having such a hard time deciding and like almost everything!

That wishbone necklace looks lovely. I remember when you posted about the Helvetica necklace, I went and got one. And now I wear it everyday, lol.
