I love a good vintage clothing shop but nothing has ever had such a dizzying effect on my senses as My Delirium. A psychedelic rabbit hole of sorts, it manages to wow visitors with decor that’s just as interesting as the clothing lining its racks.

With a blazing yellow exterior and a handful of mannequins beckoning from the window who are so overdressed that they give Liberace a run for his money, this store isn’t a place you can casually pass by without a reaction.

Inside, raspberry shag carpet competes with paisley wallpaper.

Kitschy, big-eyed animal kick-knacks stare out from every flat surface.

Kat tried on a handful of sequined pieces but her real moment to shine was when she poked her head out from the dressing room curtain….er, carpet.

After flipping through the racks of clothing, I’ll admit that I was feeling completely overwhelmed. So much color. So many embellishments. So much leather, lace, sequins and fur! I took a little break, leaning against an ornate dressing table.

Then, Gala casually walked up the stairs decked out in the most ridiculous / fabulous jacket, resembling the offspring of Big Bird. I wanted in on the action. After a few glam twirls, I slipped it off her shoulders and onto my own.

My new daytime look? I wish.

Most of the time these days, I do the majority of my shopping online. It’s just easier. But when I come across a store as magnificently unique as My Delirium, I’m reminded of the sensory experience that a thoughtfully curated retail space can offer. It’s an art form in itself and the passion that went into this vintage mecca is absolutely inspiring.

If you’re planning to visit, note that the store hours can be slightly irregular — you may want to call ahead to make sure it is open first.

Melinda: I wanted to ship every surface of that store to the U.S.! And there were about 100 photos I had to hold myself back from posting…so good. All of it.

Beautiful coats! The painted walls are amazing. It looks as though you’re stepping into one of those 60s barbie carriers…you both look like 60s dolls!
