I’m still not over the Photography Farm. While I enjoyed London, getting out to the countryside and spending the day in Surrey really was where it was at for me. Having the opportunity to hang out with a group of photographers gave me a new perspective and allowed me an insight into that industry that I wouldn’t have otherwise had.
That night, as we were gathered around the dinner table, I met Brooke of Blush Photography. Brooke hails from Utah and she completely understood my obsession with Ridge Farm. “We just don’t have anything this old in the U.S! It’s magical! It’s like we’re in a fairytale!” When you’re sitting in a cottage that’s close to 400 years older than anything in your hometown, it has an impact!
I wanted to commemorate my time on the farm with a set of photos and Brooke obliged with the instructions of “Meet me outside in the morning at 9 am.” I awoke in Freddie’s bed, hopped up in the dark and got ready as fast as I could. Brooke is a wedding photographer and if you’re in Utah, you have to work with her. I’ve shot with a lot of photographers and I always feel like there’s an equal amount of technique and personality that goes into photos. Brooke of course was an awesome photographer but beyond that, she also knows how to put you at ease and get the photos she imagines. Her direction is very specific but warm. She walks the balance between being a professional and being your friend.
Shooting with Brooke that morning was a perfect sendoff from my time in the U.K. Ten minutes after these shots were taken, we were back in the car, inching down the driveway.
