The Typofiles #123: Rika Magazine No. 7

Typofiles Rika Magazine

I first shared Rika Magazine on here a few months back after I fell in love with its use of unique innovative fonts, pages full of handwriting and features of people you don’t see flashed all over the front pages of every other magazine. Based out of the Netherlands, it feels like the ultimate bible of cool, done in an accessible, inviting way.

In this issue, Rika has splashed a new mix of vibrant colors throughout, most notably this Springy, minty green. Oh, and the always lovely Solange makes an appearance in a beautifully shot editorial.

Rika Magazine always manages to create a balance between the pretty and gritty. With that big splash of mint green comes a heavy dose of the black and white and the handwriting that gives it a total private journal feel. If you’re on the hunt for your own copy of Rika, I found mine at Barnes and Noble.

Ashley: It does have a bit of that feel, doesn’t it?? And the paper is also uncoated which only adds to the zine feel. It’s just so unique from everything else out there and I admire publications that just do their own thing in this day and age.

Just a general “Thank you, Shauna!”

Your blog is great! It is a valuable source of inspiration, motivation and most of all information for me.
It is not another “blabla-oh-look-how-beautiful-this-cup-is”-design-blog (not that I do not like those blogs), the topics you are writing about are based on well-funded experience and the whole concept of your blog entries seems very elaborate.
And besides all that it is always eye candy to look at it.
So, thanks for sharing this with us!

Stine: I appreciate that! Behind the scenes, I put a lot of work into pulling together the content I publish and I’m glad to hear that you enjoy it. Cheers!

LOVING the typography ad imagery in this magazine. Such a big crush, I want it so badly! I’ve been looking online but it doesn’t seem to be available for purchase or in stores in Canada.
