The Blogcademy London Part 2: We’re So Excited!

The Blogcademy 02 London

We’ve been so thrilled by the demand for Blogcademy London. Thank you so much to everyone who signed up! Since the first workshop sold out in just 24 hours, we’ve decided to add a second date! The next Blogcademy class will take place on Wednesday, January 23rd & Thursday, January 24th, 2013, again at the Curtain Road Studios in Shoreditch.

The same rules apply so if you’d like to join us please register here. And remember, we’re still offering a scholarship! We’re giving one place away (you can pick whichever date you’d prefer to attend).

Of course, we want to keep you entertained and you can blame Gala for this completely insane video. She sent us a script and well…can you tell that we’re excited?! Haha! Kat wins for best headgear. Rainbow unicorns unite!

Finally, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has requested cities, retweeted our information and shared their Blogcademy experiences on their blogs and with friends. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you so much for joining us on this wild ride. We can’t wait to see you in London! It’s gonna be a blast.

The Week In Pictures: 11.16.12

Oh me oh my, what a week it’s been! On Wednesday morning, we launched The Blogcademy London and by the time I woke up on Thursday morning, it was all sold out! Unbelievable. We’re already hard at work sourcing goodie bag treats, ordering collateral and tightening up content to make this event extra special.

With Fall in full force, I’ve had the urge to make my house even more of a home. What I mean by that is adding more special touches, making things feel more cozy and generally more inviting. Since our house interior from the walls to the decor to the furniture is mostly black and white (surprise, surprise!) it can feel cold and austere so I’ve been adding touches of color to warm things up. This Pantone planter I found on Fab is my new favorite office addition. I also have stacks of books with colorful spines so I’ve been working those into decor as well.

A big chunk of my free time this week was spent getting Blogcademy graphics together. I’m in charge of all the visuals and we had a lot to get done for the London launch between Kat’s blog, Gala’s blog, my blog and the website. For the London event I wanted to keep the main elements of our visual center intact but add a fresh spin so I spent a few hours in Illustrator coming up with some updated lockups. This exploration phase is always my favorite part.

I didn’t get out much this week but still made time to get inspired through the stack of 50 or so magazines I have sitting around, sadly unread. I love this chalkboard wall treatment that I spotted in the September issue of Lucky Magazine. I want a wall like that! Have any of you used chalkboard paint? How do you like it?

Back on the book front, my computer always felt a little low but I never gave it much thought. Then when I was shuffling around my office this weekend I got on the books as decor kick again and raised things up. Such an improvement!

When The Blogcademy sold out, Gala had the idea that we should create a video to launch a second date. The thing is, I NEVER do videos. EVER. I was never into the idea of acting and I never took any drama classes in high school and well, it shows! Haha. I mispronounced Curtain Road Studios as Curtain Rod Studios and then Rocky kept pacing in and out of my office (check him out in the lower left!). Most of the time, I just came off sounding like a deranged robot. I know the pros always say that you should act like you’re talking to a friend but what happens when you’re home alone? Do you just come off as even more crazy? Ahh! All I can say is that I have major respect for all of you who regularly make videos — it’s so much harder than it looks! Any tips you can bestow?

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’m hoping to see family, drink a ton of spiced cider and cut my to-do list in half.

How about you? Any fun plans?
