This week, I realized that I’d been making excuses. For the last two years, I’ve wanted to start a personal design project and even have a folder chock-full of visual inspiration that’s been sitting on my desktop for that entire time. But inevitably, something always came up and I never managed to get started. Then, this week, I was reading through 100 things to do instead of procrastinating on the internet and got to 100:
Do that thing. You know… That thing you’ve been meaning to do for ages. That thing you’ve been putting off for days, weeks, months. That thing that as soon as I say “that thing” you know exactly what I’m talking about. That thing. Yeah. Go do that.
What I remembered at that moment is that it will never be the perfect time to start. You just have to do it. (I remember feeling the same way about blogging when I started). Although I knew I wouldn’t have a big chunk of time right away to dive in, I had to start somewhere and for me, a big step was to take the digital and make it physical. It’s much harder to ignore that way. I sat down for an hour yesterday, putting together mood boards of visual inspiration that are now sitting next to my desk. It’s not much but the point is that it’s a start. And sometimes, you just have to make that first move. Nobody is going to do it for you. If we want change in our life, no matter how minor, we have to take that first step.
Whenever I’m shooting photos in the dining room, Rocky sits perfectly perched on the back of the couch, keeping an eye on things. I think he likes that blanket as much as I do!
I feel like I’ve been less than human lately…I just haven’t had a lot of time to go out, chill out and see family and friends. On Friday, my dad took me out and even though I don’t play pool, I always love peeking into the Back Stage Bar, which is the area with seven story ceilings behind the Bagdad Theater’s screen!
I’ve been wrapping up a branding project I’m really excited about — the color and type came together in a way that just feels right. I’ve been in motion with a few too many projects to slow down and post but am hoping to share the outcomes soon.
Here’s another shot from Back Stage Bar. I hope you have a chance to get out this weekend, relax and experience a fresh change of scenery. Really looking forward to the 4th of July this year — the barbecue at our neighbor’s house never disappoints. Happy Friday!
