The Typofiles #107: Farmshop

Over the weekend, I had the chance to stop into Farmshop, a restaurant and market located inside the Brentwood Country Mart. The great branding drew me in and their use of it throughout the shop on menus, bags and business cards was spot-on.

The award-winning branding was done by Clive Piercy of Santa Monica-based Air Conditioned and there’s a full overview plus an interview about his process here.

I am so glad I stumbled upon Farm Shop — the food was just as good as the branding. I love what Piercy had to say about what he notices at the restaurants he visits: “The kinds of people who are in there. If everyone is the same age, old or young, I leave. Like any community, which is what a good restaurant should be, the mix is vital. I can’t go to a place that has bad graphics. No graphics, fine. Bad design…no thanks.” I couldn’t agree more.

I have so much more to share from my visit to LA — stay tuned!

Amanda Stanford: Thanks! That’s a huge compliment and mad props to Air Conditioned for doing such a great job. Was so great to see the attention to detail in person.

Jess the Chipster: These photos were taken in Brentwood, California over the weekend! Though, I really wish Portland had a Farmshop as well…
