The Latest & Greatest #3: Spring-Inspired Brights

Happy first day of Spring! This month I’ve been drawn to a palette of juicy hues including tangerine, coral and purple. In the photo above, I paired a BITNB SUMI tee with a tangerine J.Crew cardigan I picked up at Buffalo Exchange.

Hrmm, I’m really inspired by these new pair of shoes I picked up over the weekend – some shockingly electric bright blue nikes with neon laces. They, hilariously, don’t match a thing I own clothing wise, but, I think that’s part of the fun. Thrust the forest kid into the streets!

Also, my upcoming nyc/nj vacation (going to visit home, which is always inspiring). I’m looking forward to riding the bus in my old home town, trains, tunnels and tiny Japanese sweets (also seeing my girlfriend is going to be a plus).

I’m going to attempt to get inspired on how to take some decently cool looking author photos for my lady and myself while we’re in the city!

I’m diggin the purple in these pieces – it is an underused color in my wardrobe.

  Melissa Dominic: We’re on the same wavelength – I was at the Nike Outlet over the holidays and picked out some super bright sneakers but sadly they were sold out of my size. What style did you get? I’ve been thinking of trying the Free.

    I have to buy shoes in the kiddie section, cause I wear about a size 5.5 on a good day. I got these neon blue Lunarglide 3′s with Lunarlon: http://www.brokennerves.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/541156516.jpg they’re SO fantastic and soft feeling, great on my heels and good for the times I wanna pretend I’m a runner.
    
    I hear the Frees are really, really, really comfortable! If you get them, I so wanna see which!

      m. dominic: I have munchkin feet too (usually 6.5) but the good thing about you is that kiddie prices are waaay less. Those Lunaglides are rad…I need some neon sneaks because right now, my only excuse for not getting a gym membership is that I don’t have appropriate shoes.

    You def need a good shoe for gymming! When I first started exercising all I had were a pair of Nike Dunks – they were great, but, totally crappy for exercising. I had to switch pretty quick to continue on.

Things inspiring me: Short hair (http://cutitalloff.tumblr.com), the concept of green/recycled clothing (http://www.hel-looks.com/), and the dusty/earthy palate used by my favorite illustrator (http://blogdelanine.blogspot.com/) … and you, of course!

I busted out the summery neon Nikes too this weekend – turquoise Nike Dunks with neon yellow laces and detail, though I seem to be the only one who loves them!

It’s been so gorgeously sunny here, perfect weather for going on an overlocking spree and cutting up & sewing loads of old clothes into summery stuff!
