The Typofiles #92: Fonts In Use

magazine typofiles typography

Do you ever drive past somewhere like Wendy’s and notice the typeface on their posters way before the grotesque greasy food that is being offered? Yeah? Me too. Well, if you’re completely type-obsessed, Fonts In Use is your new best friend.

Fonts In Use has been around for awhile now but I felt that it was so valuable that it deserved a special call-out. The site regularly highlights a particular project its authors find intriguing and at the beginning of the article, all the key font players are clearly called out. No more second-guessing! And the comments are always great too, usually covering any type specimen that may have been overlooked. I’ve made so many new type discoveries on this site and hopefully you will, too.

Today, I have two more pieces from the My Cross To Bear series to introduce to you. Both, as with my other larger pieces, are collage on wood and coated in epoxy resin.

This week, I finally downloaded Instagram and went a little crazy with documenting the world around me. I still carry my SLR everywhere with me but sometimes you just need to be sneaky to capture certain moments! Top to bottom: reprinting my portfolio at Kinko’s, lunch at My-Thai Bistro, PMS coated swatches, H&M Heart top, thrifted red cross mug and my Pantone desktop.

Everyone that stops by for a visit scoops up Rocky and declares that he looks like a creature from Labyrinth. I’ve never seen such a strong personality in such a little animal!

My two scents of choice that are in constant rotation are Vanillary and Tainted Love. And still loving my origami crane brooch by Under The Shade of A Bonsai Tree.

This is what I wore to visit some food carts over the weekend and load up on tacos: H&M sweater, J Crew skirt, H&M tights and Minimarket boots. Comfortable and cozy!

The freezing cold temperatures are already driving me nuts…looking forward to escaping to Phoenix for a week in December. This dress from Akira Chicago is going to be my go-to summer dress. Until then, I’m pairing it with black opaque tights, a sweater and a leather jacket.

And with that, it’s time to heat up some chai and milk and get my weekend started! Do you have any big plans?
