My Cross To Bear: Full Circle

Full Circle is the third piece in the My Cross To Bear series which launches at Sequential Art Gallery in December. Though I shared a progress shot last month, today I want to show the finished piece; this is the first cross that I’ve ever done in this size! Measuring 18 x 18 inches, it’s custom-built out of wood (thanks to Joey’s handiwork) and features a collage-covered surface that is sealed with a layer of epoxy resin.

Thanks for tuning in as this series progresses! And thank you for all of the recent questions submitted to the Ask Nubby column — I’ve been very busy making new art and redoing my web portfolio but I wanted to let you know that read each and every one and hope to have some time to begin answering a fresh batch very soon.

Nubby, these are so fantastic! I’m really loving seeing these pieces come together. I don’t recall if I ever mentioned it before, but I first fell in love with your blog way back in the day because of your collages. So I’m loving the whole “going back to your roots” thing. Wish I wasn’t on the opposite side of the continent so I could go to the gallery opening and see them in person!

Krissy: Thanks for your continues support…I follow your blog religiously. Awesome to hear that you remember when I originally did the art thing since that was quite a few years ago now!

I love these collages, it really is inspiring, as I’m trying to fill my days with art instead of despair (still trying to get a teaching position!).

At least there is still art :)

Melinda: Art can be such a therapeutic release! I hope the job market shifts soon in the favor of quite a few people I know, including you. Hang in there and stay positive.
