I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll say it again: I love uniforms. Maybe it’s because I always went to public school and had the chance to wear the craziest outfits any time I wanted (and trust me, to my parent’s embarrassment, I took full advantage of that freedom). When I think back, I never had anything to rebel against. On the other hand, all my friends who had to wear uniforms are now completely clothes-crazy and their wardrobes make my closet look barren in comparison.

Over the years, I’ve amassed quite a collection of uniform-inspired looks. At the top of my list has always been variations of red and white stripes. Motel recently sent me the Karina Dress and I added my own belt, red bow and petticoat underneath to complete the look. Maybe If I’d worked at a candy shop a few decades back, this could have been my summer uniform. Hey, a girl can dream…

I love this dress, Nubby, and thank you sincerely for the promo code!
The first thing that drew my eye in these photos is the building.. Such a cool sign! :)

Julianne Berry: I’m so bummed that we missed you when we were in LA. We must find a way to meet up again (fairly) soon.

Gala: LA and our adventures are still fresh on my mind….can’t wait to see you for birthday goodness in September!

Lola: Me too. I appreciate anything these days that’s still done by hand…

Sally: Thanks! Without the petticoat, the dress feels more ‘every day’ but with it, I think everything feels more uniform-like.

Angela – They’re my ‘perfect summer wedges’ because they’ve got height but the incline isn’t too steep and I like that they’re closed-toe but open in the back. Also, because of the laces, the adjustability is great. And, they’re really lightweight. :)

Jen: I hope you put it to good use! It’s funny because I pass that building every day….sometimes it’s important to just slow down and take in the beauty of your every day surroundings.

Jess: Not usually….Rocky always steals the show. ;)

you look so cute but I’d LOVE to see some photos of these wild outfits you mentioned.
I went to school with uniforms and also one with a super strict dress code and I guess I am sorta making up for lost time, although I do also love vintage uniforms, esp. nurse dresses (not in a sexy way, in a uniform way)

Very cute! Very Minnie Mouse. The striped instead of spotted version, that is. ;)

I always wished I had to wear a uniform in public school. I always thought they were so stylin’. And it would have saved me the pictures of my hideous clothing choices for 4 years.
