I couldn’t believe that these showed up on my doorstep. • Decided that it was time for black nails…the love affair is back! • Had a super inspiring talk with a client that covered all of our favorite online fashion boutiques • On Friday night, Joey whipped up homemade pad thai for dinner (have I mentioned that I loathe cooking and he has dinner ready almost every night when I get home?!) • Rendered graphics onto kiosks and trucks (don’t ask). • Realized that every time I turn on the TV, nothing’s on and I end up watching Dr. Oz. • Booked the cutest ever Parisian hotel with Gala for our upcoming Virgos Only™ trip. • Ordered two pairs of elf shoes for an upcoming shoot (once again, don’t ask) • Tried to design a St. Paddy’s Day poster for a client and failed miserably — beer and leprechauns just aren’t my thing! • Remembered how much I love Star; she always messages me, telling me about the next big thing in blogging & web design. • Felt inspired to start my massive portfolio update • Listened to Thriller • Scrubbed three floors in one night. • And, here I am and it’s Saturday.

I can’t quite believe that I have a pair of Finsk 252-98 shoes on my feet right now. Last week, Solestruck sent me a message, offering me a pair of my choice as a thank you for our continued work together and I literally leapt out of my chair, ran into Joey’s studio, spun around three times and jumped in the air. He probably thought I was possessed my the devil (that wouldn’t be a huge surprise). But, I was actually possessed by shoes (also not a huge surprise). Before I could snap my fingers, they were waiting on my doorstep. The one brand that always felt like a distant, out of reach love is now in my hands. Thank you, Solestruck!! Wow. Just wow.

It’s a bit mid boggling that I’m 29 years old and have extensively traveled the country but have never made it to Europe! To celebrate my upcoming voyage with Gala, I invested in a very special passport holder. Pantone, of course. One month away! I am so excited.

A little face paint never hurt anyone.

My nails always always always used to be black. Then, with my black hair and mostly black wardrobe, I decided that I needed to lighten things up a bit. So, red, white, mint green and silver all took its place. Old habits die hard, though. After a year hiatus, black is definitely back.

Much love to you! See you Monday! Time to do freelance, clean and go couch shopping!

Everything about this post is WIN and also things I am into, too! Those shoes – wow!!! I think I will feature those on my blog soon too. :) The passport cover is awesome and you’ll love Paris! It’s so gorgeous! Coincidentally I just got out my passport before I saw your post, since I’m going abroad this year too. I need to find the passport holder I have. Black nail polish – must get back to wearing it, but unfortunately I have a conservative job. :( Am hitting 2 goth clubs tonight in fact!

    Cheers

    DJ Medusa.

Medusa: That’s why it’s good to be a designer. When I show up to work, people just expect a little ‘creativity’ in my appearance…even if it includes weird multi-angled platforms and black nails. But I have worked at ‘those’ kinds of more conservative places in a past life. I feel ya! Have fun at the goth clubs!

  2. Lola says:

So are you staying a hardcore Virgo, or has your sign changed, too? I’m no longer a Sag…and I don’t know how I feel about it. Those shoes are gorgeous–never take them off or I’ll send my little elf to steal them from you when you’re not looking! :P

    • Nubby says:

Lola: Hahaha, they can’t just up and change the signs like that! It’s madness! I was born a Virgo, just like Michael Jackson and Gala! They can’t just attempt to strip away my identity in one swoop! P.S. I have a soft spot for Sagittarius’s — my mom is one. Don’t change! ;)

I’m so excited for your trip to Paris! And never mind the fact that it’s only your first trip to Europe.

Last year, after a summer of intense freelance design work and holding down multiple jobs at the same time, I made my first ever trip across the pond at 27… and Paris was my destination!

You’ll absolutely love it. Till this day, I can’t describe to people how my trip was because it was completely and absolutely surreal. It’s still hard for me to believe that I was there! Thankfully, I have my photos [http://www.flickr.com/photos/57339224@N00/sets/72157625115671311] to prove that it was all real.

Enjoy it… and the inevitable travel bug that will result from it :)

Your passport holder is beautiful! I have never painted my nails black before… In the winter I normally go for dark purples & browns. Actually, my nails are bright pink with white polka dots right now, so I think that means that I’m positively looking forward to warm sunshine. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

  5. Crissy says:

Zut alors! I’ve been in totally lust with those shoes since they popped up on Solestruck! Congrats!

Also, I’m in total adoration of all Pantone Universe products. I want the red wallet, the red pepper grinder, the red socks, as well as, the complete set of coffee mugs.

  6. those finsk’s. perfect colour!
I need more colour in my wardrobe. Ive been turning to natural colours *why? i dont know, easy to match? any way. gonna bring colour back.

where in Europe are you planning on visiting? sorry if you mentioned in previous posts but im catching up now. lol x

  7. Piritta says:

Oh, the beauties! Finsk is (yet another, hehe) proof of the Finnish design scene’s vitality. If you love contemporary design and bold, cool colours, I think you might be quite comfortable in my home town, Helsinki. So when you decide to travel elsewhere in the EU (cheap flights and good train connections btw), please do pop by! (I would also recommend Stockholm and Copenhagen!)

  8. Amy says:

Congratulations on the Finsks! From the moment I first saw them I pictured them on your feet. Also loving the Pantone passport holder and black nails – I’ve been loving black nails lately myself. Also, if it’s mandatory to make it to Europe by 30, I better get cracking…
