01: Style Files

week in pictures

My style direction for the season is aptly titled “I Am An Urban Warrior and I Just Survived The Apocalypse.” Not quite as catchy as Gossip Girl On Acid but it’ll work for now. I want my entire wardrobe to morph into layers of draped Rick Owens and All Saints but in the meantime, this Forever 21 dress will do.

On the style tip, I recommend black (hair, clothes, jewelry). Lots of it. Why? It doesn’t show the dirt and doesn’t clash! The Helvetica necklace is by Star is still one of my favorite pieces of jewelry because it’s so minimal and goes with everything.

02: General Threaded

This building in S.E. Portland always grabs my attention. The name, the type…I wonder what’s inside? Oooh, mysterious.

03: The New Black

The second I spotted these pencils earlier in the week, I had to have them. My favorites are HAVING A ROOMMATE NAMED MOM IS THE NEW BLACK and 140 CHARACTERS OR LESS IS THE NEW BLACK. Yes! They were designed by Fred and Friends.

04: Southbound

Time to wrap up a few jobs and finish packing so I can head down south. Three cheers for Disney adventures and some quality time with my favorite girls!

P.S. I’ve been a bit incognito from the internet as of late but it’s a-ok because I’ve been spending time on some pretty cool design projects. I hope I can show you some of these outcomes really, really soon:

1. Re-designing the Sweet Cheeks website (great cause — check it out). 2. Various web projects for Solestruck. 3. Finishing up a media kit for burlesque performer Veronica Varlow. 4. Ongoing promotional projects with Luke Copping. 5. A fresh new logo for Scarlett Nymph. And a few other things. On top of just finishing 2+ months of Adidas production work. Busy!

Those pencils have got to be the coolest thing I’ve seen all week! What brilliance!

Hope you have a great time at Disney. :)

I had my eyes on that F21 dress for so long. I ended up not getting it because I thought the silhouette might not look great on me (I’m short v_v) but now I’m sort of regretting that decision. It looks rad you :]

Dearest Nubs,
Please keep the Graphic Design hope alive for me. I just got paid $12 for a nightmare project. Yes, you read that right: $12. :-( Moving on and up, I guess…

Love those pencils <3

I've just realised how much I miss my black hair, brown has been nice but I'm ready to go back to black it's just so much more chic and stylish, I've realised black is my colour… although I am tempted to stick a bit of blue in it

Yasmeen Buttons: I am short as well 5 foot 3 inches) and have learned to live with it. Well…that and I try to balance out the dwarfiness with monster shoes. ;)

Lola: We’ve all been burned before….but you learn and grow from those times too. Onwards and upwards for you!

Navessa: Maybe some day I’ll have the courage to knock on their door.

Kim: Thanks!

Cate: I’ve had nearly every color of the rainbow and settled on black about 8 years ago….way less hassle and always matches everything!

“I Am An Urban Warrior and I Just Survived The Apocalypse.” is pretty much how I live my life – Now I suppose we can go shopping together? Hahah! Except I like to dash some Gypsy in there, because, I think that works out so well for me.

I’ve been trying to throw a little more brown into the mix though. Post-Apoc brown is pretty great. I should go back to doing fashion posts on my blog, blahhh.

Also, I love the pencils. El Nuevo Nergo is the New Black is my new favourite thing, ever.

I found mine at New Seasons near 21st and Division in Portland. Otherwise, visit the Fred & Friends website I linked to in this post to get more information on their products.

Hi Nubby!, the other day a friend of mine shared with me a lot of blogs, your blog was one of them, and I really loved it!
Anyway, I saw your love for Helvetica and this morning when I stumbled upon this link: http://typophile.com/node/52779 I thought of you hehe. I know its another level, I just found it a little bit funny and crazy!
