Weekend Date at Saint Cupcake

week in pictures

This weekend, I met my friend girl Joey for coffee and after awhile, we realized that the holy grail of sweet treats, Saint Cupcake was just a few doors down. One is never enough. Ever. They also do vegan versions of a few varieties if you’re interested!

Office Overhaul Continued

I’m still not quite done with my office – I just ordered a zinc colored Eames Aeron chair (worth every penny when you sit all day) and still need to find a suitable rug. But! I stole the desk we had in the white room and now I have three times the space to work! So unbelievably nice. I especially like the storage inside of the ‘legs.’

Goggles!

The guys at Smith Optics kindly sent me samples of the goggles I designed, along with one of the helmets. I’m spreading the love and sending two of my best friends a pair so they can get some use – though I’m keeping the super cute, thin strapped girl’s ones for myself!

Rush Hour

The road home from Nike any time near 5 PM is a long one.

Cozy Breakfast

On Sunday, Auntie Nubs joined Joey and I for a delightful vegan breakfast at Paradox. Of course, she always packs along her camera and snaps away, for better or worse. Let’s just say that she’s got a pile of doozies that shall remain locked in the secret family photo album forever. I hope.

Cool Cover

When I was freelancing this week, I discovered this super awesome cover on one of the agency’s shelves and had to share. So good!

Enjoy your weekend (and stay out of trouble!)

Great choice on the chair. When they first came out they were a grand. Use to have them when I use to work for David Harry Stewart. Great investment!

Looove the Aeron chairs! When I worked at a hedgie, I kept waiting for one to malfunction so I could bring it home with me on the subway. No such luck :(

B.Anca: I got mine for a good deal on Ebay….so glad I did some research before hitting the buy button on the DWR.com website! There were some other styles I liked better aesthetically but almost every agency I’ve ever worked at has them and my back has never, ever hurt while sitting in one so I knew it was what I should get. I am so excited to have a legit chair finally!

Ansi: Aww, too bad. There should be a law that all offices have to have decent chairs! No more hurty backs!

Loving the head of glass, looks like a piece of art!
I wonder if your desk ever gets messy…

Insomnia: That glass head is actually from Pier 1 circa 10 years ago! And my desk does get messy….though I hate clutter and try to clean it off once a day.

Nubby.. I saw this coffee table on Geekologie and thought of you immediately.

I think it would look pretty amazing in the white room, full of white shredded paper. Too bad it’s $1,950!! Eek. :(

Auntie Nubs: When you have a day off, we should make pit stops at Saint Cupcake and the Solestruck store.

What’s it like working for Nike? What sort of things are coming ’round the bend for them (design wise)?

Lola: I’ve had nothing but great experiences working for Nike. There are so many sportswear giants here – Nike, Adidas and Columbia all have their corporate headquarters in town. I haven’t done any work on the Nike campus for a few months (was just out there last week for a meeting) but I’ve done a few off-site jobs including a look book that should be wrapping shortly. It’s very edgy and gritty and I swear, high fashion! Nike is doing some impressive things and really pushing the boundaries of what people assume sportswear is…and the quality of their photography, type and style guides is always top notch.

Hope you get a lot of comfort out of your chair. They are not so expensive if you work out the price per minute of use.

Seeing that traffic picture, I hope your car seat is also comfortable.

Forgot to say.

Please feel free to leave a comment on my website after a few weeks of use.
I am always interested to hear what people think about a specific chair.

Using a bookshelf to house shoes it a great idea. I really love your office. :)

Helen B: I used to store my books on the same shelf by color but shoes by color seemed more entertaining – if you have something you love, it seems pointless to keep it all tucked away in a closet somewhere.

Alexandra Franzen: That cupcake place looks super fun! Saqint Cupcake is very quaint and cute and their cupcakes are never to sugary / sickly sweet. Love them so! That’s funny about your client – I see that you whipped out some Helvetica Neue Ultra Light there!
