It’s about time. Often, I buy beverages solely based on their packaging. Surely I’m not alone in this?

Weekend Stop at Stumptown.

week in pictures

I know that everyone likes Stumptown coffee, but I think their hot chocolate is the best.

Spotted: Gremlin!

week in pictures

I have a total soft spot for Gremlins – they’re little, awkward and the gas tank in the back cracks me up. There’s this middle-aged hispanic woman in my neighborhood that burns out of the Plaid Pantry parking lot sometimes in the most amazing Gremlin of all-time: sparkly green paint job, monsterous racing slick tires and massive flames painted along the sides. I totally wish she’d take me for a spin sometime.

Project status: Complete.

week in pictures

I spent pretty much every waking hour this week working on a book for Downtown Portland with the North team, complete with custom embossed covers – I’m super happy with how it turned out.

Cutest sign ever.

week in pictures

I am in love with the logo for Breken Kitchen, a cafe in N.W. The walls inside are perfectly matched to that same green – I love it when businesses go the extra mile with those little details.

You can’t be serious.

When I was sitting at Stumptown this weekend, this bike rider’s getup totally caught my eye. Skin tight? Check? Hearts? Check. Outfit matches your wife’s? Check. Golden.

Hand-painted advertising.

Someone’s a barfly.

When we go to the coffee shop in the morning and walk Rocky, we always pass a trashy restaurant / bar on the corner. The side door is usually open and Rocky for some reason loves to try and wander in. I don’t blame him – the dart boards, collection of 3 foot tall trophies and Ozzy blaring are all pretty hard to resist. Nice sign, too:

The first Time I tried Izze was absolutely because of the packaging, I was not disappointed. I have also bought books purely based on the quality of the design or illustration on the cover.

My husband says I am sucked in by marketing but it’s the packaging that gets me when I go shopping! Jude, I toured the montieth’s brewery last year – it’s a beautiful place (I don’t drink beer, but the idea of a boutique brewery somehow appeals ot me…)!

The sun is leaving us in Aus and heading over there – how I miss her :(

The cyclists whale looks like the twitter whale!!

You know I look forward to TWIP every week! Is Rocky your dog? For some reason I thought he was your friends dog but he’s been featuring in a lot of your posts lately! I love his quirky look, what breed is he?

You’re definitely not alone in buying beverages only for the sake of great package, i buy lots of useless crap just to own a good package of it, i am all sorts of crazy about packaging so i completely understand you.
And hand-painted advertising is bloody awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I’ll admit to buying food and drinks based on the cute packaging. I swear to god, it makes whatever is in the packaging taste better.

Luke Copping: I would expect nothing less from you – you’re so detail oriented and it comes through in your style / work.

Auntie Nubs: Leave once, amber alert. Leave twice, we’re sending out the chupacabras.

Katie: Funny, I didn’t notice the whale on the biker’s outfits…the hearts were so distracting!

Alicia – Sea of Ghosts: He’s my boyfriend Joey’s dog and we all live together so technically, yes. He’s a Chinese Crested – most are hairless but he’s a powderpuff one.

Essie: So true!!!

Looks like Breken Kitchen used Jessica Hische’s font Buttermilk for their sign. Super cute.

I love Izze too and not just because of its cute design – it is actually delicious! That bike rider’s outfit has to be the coolest spandex number I’ve ever seen.

Looks like you caught the Gentle Lovers right before their weekend ride. Lots of PDX riders sport some pretty amazing graphic designs on their kits – check out the Super Relax team for some more graphic eye candy!
