Nubby 2.0

link love typography

Over the last two weeks, I’ve been working closely with Star to freshen up Nubbytwiglet.com. After nearly 3 years and close to 1,000 posts, it was time to implement a slight face lift. Besides the obvious changes including a Twitter feed and a wider center column, I thought I’d point out a few new additions.

Resources

After three years of blogging, the archives have become overloaded and it’s easy to overlook some of the great content that’s been posted in the past. To help alleviate this, a section of my all-time favorite articles called Resources has been added to the top navigation. This is still a work in progress and the lists will grow as I have a chance to comb through the archives further.

Advertising

There is now a dedicated section in the top navigation specifically for advertising. All paid ad space has been upgraded to a skyscraper format (160 x 600 pixels) and will be more visible since it has been relocated to the top left sidebar.

Graphic Design

One of my favorite changes is the Graphic Design section. To make more room for showcasing projects, I had Star remove the sidebars. The width of nearly 900 pixels has allowed me to spread out and enlarge much of my work. This is also still a work in progress as I reformat and add more projects over the next few weeks.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who has stuck around for the last three years and generously offered feedback and support. It’s very much appreciated. Cheers to three more years!

It looks great. I love that it’s still a really clean design – I really love what you’ve done with the graphic design section. It showcases your work fantastically. Great work, to you & Star.

I already said it but I love the re-vamp. I loved scrolling through the graphic Design section and I loved seeing evrything in a bigger size than normal.

I think that my favourite part is the custom type with the Cufón plug-in. It looks much more you with the Din (it is Din right? Sorry, i know nothing about type).

Redesign is looking good, but you have a bug with the search field in Firefox and Internet Explorer – instead of sitting at the top of the page in line with the links, it’s floating at the top left of the header image, about 40 pixels below where it should be. It’s working properly in Chrome and Safari though.

I love the new comment layout! I must know the code for something similar to this when I get my blogger updated! CSS and javascript are kicking my butt since I learned HTML almost 5 years ago! >.< Hopefully I can get my sites looking as professional as yours!

    Thanks for the compliments guys!

Hey Ian- you still having trouble? If so, what version of ff are you running? Things look great for me in the newest FF.

Sarah Mayy: Glad you’re liking it – WordPress, technology, EVERYTHING has come so far in the last 3 years and I am really glad to get things up to date and better functioning.

M Dominic: The resources section was actually a recommendation from Star. She’s got some amazing ideas.

Lola: Yeah…part of that was the never ending scrolling that held things up. I also just switched servers and that’s helped a ton.

Kiersten: Thanks so much! It’s been a long time coming and I love what Star has done to freshen things up.

Jazzi M: Thanks! I still love your French Vogue inspired layout.

Melinda: CSS and javascript kick my ass too – that’s why I always hire Star. ;)

Updated to 3.6.3 and the issue is still present. Seems to be a result of the search div + menu div being too wide for the layout. The search div will fit if the padding is removed from the right-hand side and the width is reduced by 2 pixels. :)
