Nixon Time Teller P Watch

It must be Watch Week around here. On Monday, I was waxing poetic about Swatch and today, it’s Nixon!

Last month, I was standing around at Nemo when I looked down at one of the producer’s arms (Hi, Megan!) and noticed this watch. Quite dramatically, I reached for it and demanded to know where she got it. I was immediately drawn to the solid white exterior and frankly, the shape (which to me resembles a Swatch on steroids). The Time Teller P comes in a whopping 19 colors. I’ve been wearing the Nixon Chalet in black for the last two years and figured this stark white watch would be perfect for Spring. So far, so good.

I’ve always been looking out for a watch like that, you know full solid one-colour but not toy-like, perfect! I love big round vintage mens watches personally but this would be my modern choice!

  2. Natalie says:

Ah! Nixon has the best watches.

I’ve been wearing the Nixon Vega in pink for two years! Given to me on our first Valentine’s Day together by my boyfriend. I love it, and I always get compliments on it!

  3. Dinah says:

I wear a Nixon Vega in white! Also given to me by my b/f on Valentine’s day (just like Natalie). I love the time teller P. It’s very clockwork orange.

  4. Lisa Grace says:

I’ve been wearing the same Swatch watch for the past few years and I LOVE it, it has a long thin strap that wraps around the wrist three times in red, black and white, it’s so great.

  5. Julie says:

I used to wear a Nightmare Before Christmas watch (gift from my Japanese friend) all the time, until I lost it or it got stolen. Now, I wear a pink Hello Kitty watch (a gift from my BIL) which is just big enough and “adult” enough.

Personally, I like huge silver men’s watches and I used to steal my big brother’s all the time.

I wish I did! A while back I got a purple one from Fred Flare that talks to you in Japanese, which I thought was awesome, but was disappointed to find when I received it that it only said one phrase and that there was no manual to tell you what the phrase meant. Sometimes I wear it for fun, but it’s a digital watch, and I like the look of a traditional watch with hands much better.

I’ve been looking for a simple, modern watch like this, though, so thanks for featuring it!

I’ve been a fan of Nixon watches for a couple of years, and I love their variation in styles. Mind you, because they’re all so pretty it’s been very hard for me to choose ONE that I can stick to, without thinking “Shit, should I have bought the other one instead?”

I really like this one, but I’m a little sketched out by plastic wrist bands. Especially white. Seeing as they wear easily and probably discolor. Then again it’s your watch and knowing how you take care of your shoes, you’ll probably take care of the watch even more.

    All in all, cute purchase!

  8. I rarely wear watches, but, last year I got a classic mickey/minnie yellow watch with him giving her a flower and all. It is really adorable and matches nothing I own but, I dunno, it feels just very me.

I also have a gypsy charm watch I wear when I’m going out. It’s bronze with over 50 charms on it. It clangs and dings and has bells and it’s just a wonderful piece of jewelry. The watch part is so small in it that it’s hardly noticeable that it’s a watch at all!

I really want a solid all-yellow watch though. I also really really dig the white watches too. But I’m in the market for something tacky and digital.

Funny thing is I own a lot of watches. I have two of my all time favorite. One was a Sanrio (Pochacco) one with purple straps and the other a Kenneth Cole one I got for my 16th birthday. I just got the batteries changed out and am trying to get into the habit of wearing a watch again.

Natalie & Dinah: Those boys have great taste — total keepers!

bri: So cute! A watch on a necklace, especially heart-shaped seems so girly and classic in a good way!

cmykinky: You have a total valid point about plastic watch bands. Most of my Swatch one have discolored pretty badly. I think this one might be made of a thicker, more durable material though? Seems to stain way less so far!

Femke: Awesome! It’s such a good basic everyday watch.

Melissa Dominic: Tacky and digital…a girl after my own heart!

Ally: I’ve been to the NYC Swatch store too and it’s so much fun! And the MoMA store always has the best product selection.

  11. Becky says:

That’s amazing! I’d be really tempted to customise it.

I have a Tokidoki nurse watch that I’ve had for around a year now..people always comment on how awesome it is!

I do not wear a watch anymore, because I rarely need to use it. If I’m out I have the clock on my phone; if I’m home, there are a lot of what I’d call ambient or incidental clocks around (the DVR, the microwave, the computer).

However, the last watch that I wore frequently looked a lot like a streamlined, pearly version of this one. It’s one of the super-thin Swatch models with the leather bands. Mine has a glossy pearl white band with matte swirl-pattern accents on it, and a frosty metallicized white dial. I think it’s called Mother-of-Pearl and it came out in 2000 or 2001, maybe.

    Really lovely watch!

For the past couple of years I’ve rotated between two watches, both of which were given to me by my lovely boyfriend (I showed him the ones I liked and he couldn’t decide which one to get one, so he surprised me with one for my birthday and one for Christmas, haha.) One is the same Nixon chalet watch that you have, except in dark woodgrain. It gets lots of compliments. The other one is a silver Nixon that I don’t remember the name of. It’s smaller and shinier and I love it too.

  14. That’s a beautiful watch.

I wear one, it’s also white (I’m a minimalist and wear purely neutral colors 99% of the time, like you). I got it at Target for $12. Very simple, plain watch, but I can’t even tell you how many compliments I get on it. It’s seriously baffling.

We were ooohing and ahhing over this watch in my office. I totally love the simplicity and chunkiness of it. I wear a Tian Harlan Chromachron (vintage from the 70s, a genius birthday present from my boyfriend). I love being able to tell time by color!

  16. Shira says:

i have a rly funky one… from duty free actually
    !
it’s thick and is navy blue with white dots and the face has white dots too !!!!!!!!

  17. Annie says:

I wear a Mondaine watch..its the ‘official swiss railways watch’ and had really simple design. I really like oversized watches so I went for the giant men’s one. LOVE.
