i personally have not seen ‘this is it’ out of protest, as i refuse to give sony and AEG any of my money. people have screamed on me for that, actually. ‘well you love michael so much, you should see it!’ i tell them that i DO love michael, which is why i am NOT seeing it.

michael fought to be released from his sony contract, and finally did so in 2004. so out of respect for michael i won’t be purchasing any sony products they intend to posthumously put out of his work.

i’m not mad at people who buy the records and see the film, and love it. i just refuse to. everyone’s got a different relationship to him which makes them happy. i’ll just keep watching his dangerous and bad rehearsals if i need to see him behind the scenes. that’s some beautiful footage as well.

i love michael i have alot in commom with him …
but in the end we just want peace and love after all what is there without peance and love ?
there is no need for crime knowone enjoys only the devil himself.so, lets all heal the world because after all we are the world wether we are black or white theres no differnce we wont stop till we get enough! because its all for love and peace L O V E A N D P E A C E

Thank You so much for this! *gives you an e-hug* I saw This Is It 3 days after it came out. I saw it in London’s 02 Arena. There were girls screaming the house down!! Lots of us dressed up. I wore my MJ t-shirt and I saw another guy in full military with mirrored aviators. You could really feel the love in the room. MJ was AWESOME and his concerts would have been the greatest shows on earth.

Thriller!! I remember being spellbound every time this played on MTV. Nothing gets me going like dancing zombies! You were just a baby nubbins then, but you’d watch MJ with me. I didn’t dress you like him, but there were a couple of Madonna incidents….

you know you chose your friends well when they can do the thriller dance with you. whats funny about this is that when i was a kid that video scared the crap out of me, i couldn’t watch it till i was 10 years old and even then the first time i watched the whole thing i was with my mom watching the making of.

favorite song either smooth criminal or this place hotel.

Ah, Mike. I used to stare at that picture on the inside of the Thriller album for hours on end.
I did a blog post about his style influence a few months before he died–right around the time his personal effects were going to be auctioned off. His costumes were fantastic! I’ve never wanted a rhinestone and feather trimmed bodysuit more in my life.

I’m sure MJ will be remembered for his music (BTW, Off the Wall is my favorite album. Workin’ Day & Night is practically my theme song as of late!), as well as his eccentricity. The thing I think people forget about is his generosity–how much time, energy, and funding he contributed to charities worldwide. He gave all of his proceeds from the Victory Tour to charity!

I hope people can see past the sparkly military gear and amazing choreography (not knockin’ the choreo–I know both the Thriller and Beat It dances, baby!) and realize how much he did to help people and yes, spread the LOVE.

I saw “This Is It,” and was in utter awe of his musical brilliance, creative vision and work ethic. The man was at the very top of his game at all times…x a million. Contrary what we would see in the tabloids, Michael Jackson easily outshone his musicians and dancers, who were at the peak of their own careers, and yet he remained completely humble and approachable. MJ ushered in the era of super-stardom, defined pop culture for his entire career, and made such a profound global cultural impact- -he probably influenced us in ways we’ll never know.

After watching the movie and mulling over it for a bit, I realized that Michael Jackson had a lot to teach us, not only about the arts, but about how to be a really decent human being. Here is someone who was dragged down by the very society that catapulted him into mega-stardom in the first place. In the later years of his life, he was ridiculed, ostracised, falsely accused, condemned. His dad tops many a “Worst Celebrity Dad Ever” list, and some of his siblings used him for their own fame (not namin’ any names, *LaToya*). Despite being failed by humanity, he never lost his belief in people and humanity, or his genuine desire to make the world a better place. I know I’m sounding really treacly here, but MJ’s sense of love, compassion and humility was/is just astounding and a pretty powerful example for us all.
