The Week in Pictures: 11.20.09

I started off my week with no solid plans. I thought I’d spend most of it sitting at my desk, pacing myself through client work and watching Dr. Phil. And now, it’s Friday and I’ve been going nonstop, doing agency work (and barely home). It’s funny how that happens but I guess it should be expected the week after returning home from a relaxing vacation!
I have some awesome things that I really wanted to share with you but because of my schedule, they will have to wait until next week. First of all, I found the most perfect red dress in a store window, gave them my information and bought it off the mannequin. Secondly, the floors of my living and dining rooms are now finished. The living room floor is pure black; it’s got a total haunted mansion vibe (!!) The dining room is the exact opposite, basking in solid white. The rooms are coming together fast and I will share them with you shortly.

Always keep the necessities close by; a bag the size of a small child, ridiculous (yet still walkable) platforms and a coffee for those mid-afternoon lulls.

Bring home small yet practical souvenirs from your travels that don’t sit on a shelf somewhere, collecting dust. I bought this Mickey ears keychain for my bag because it’s rubber (and therefore, unbreakable). Have I mentioned how much I miss Disney World? Have I?! I really, truly do. Sadness!

People around me are getting the swine flu. In a way, it makes me not want to leave the house. But, there are bills to be paid (and shoes to be bought). Perhaps a black satin surgical mask would be the perfect new accessory? Michael was such a trend setter; he was wearing them fifteen years before they were cool.

For the last year, I took a serious break from red. It ruled my world for ten years straight and I needed something softer and less jarring. I started surrounding myself with more grays and whites. But, I’m starting to notice steady amounts of red creeping into my life once again….

Isn’t my new mug amazing? I found it at the Urban Outfitters in Tampa for a measly two dollars. Tall, dark and bitter? How about short, light and sweet?

I was visiting my friend Tyler this week when I noticed this x-ray above his desk. That really was his arm. I’ve never broken any bones…have you?

Moments like this are why I ALWAYS carry a camera. My brother and I were sitting in traffic downtown and I spotted this Mercedes covered in metal stickers. I wish I could have gotten a better photo but all I can say is WOW. I am speechless. It’s sort of like the grandkids inherited grandpa & grandma’s Mercedes and customized it!

Your turn! How was your week?

Your mui mui is a thing of beauty (child-sized and all)and the wedges are so architectural, love that.
The cup cracks me up, mine would have to read:
petite,pale,and sacharine sweet.
The only bone that I have ever broken,(ironically)is my tailbone. Not recommended and definitely no x-rays kept to show off.
You have such a great eye,I am really looking forward to seeing your interior shots!
regards,Britt

OH, that bag and those shoes are beautiful.
Looking at those x-rays makes me cringe. Two years ago I fell on my bicycle and broke my collarbone right at the shoulder and both of my elbows. No casts, but I had to wear a sling for a couple of months and couldn’t use my left arm. It was pretty awful. I got pdf files of my x-rays, though, partly because I was curious whether certain upper-body piercings (ahem) that most people don’t know I have were visible. Yup, they sure were. I’m sure the ER staff has seen it all, but I wondered what they thought. I had to crop the pictures when I showed my parents, haha.

Satin surgical mask, eh? I wonder if that would keep the swine flu out.
One could probably make a very svelte, satin cover for actual surgical masks … hmm!

A satin mask would be aces.
I can’t wait to see the redone rooms. I’ve never seen a black floor anywhere. I have a feeling it’s the coolest shit ever.

I have never broken a bone, and looking at your friend’s x-ray makes me glad of it. *shudder*
Isn’t it interesting how colors sneak back in? It’s like they’ve got a mind of their own. I purposefully took a break from wearing so much black for a year or two and now I just want to swathe myself in black and gray. Weird, hm?

I know what you mean about the whole red thing. Red, black & white are just so classically pleasing. But lately I’ve been into earthy tones as well. Light blue & light brown together is my current obsession.
& LOL @ that car. \m/ <— metal fingers

Hello Nubby,
It’s always a pleasure to read about your week in pictures. Love the reliable classics, especially miu miu.
Speaking of the color gray and shoes to be bought, I thought you might like these.

The entry on your shoe collection was great. I love how all your belongings make a cohesive collection.

I broke my wrist on either side in September and it’s only just starting to heal now but is still very sore and difficult to do things! I hope you never break a bone, it’s horrible!! Your friends bone looked mighty painful. Ergh. xoxo

Britt Castaneda: TAILBONE?!! Ouch.
Rachel: That is the funniest story ever (not the broken bones part, the piercings!!!)
Alicia: I was cringing watching my 1927 era wood floors getting stained black. Thank god it turned out well…otherwise I would be killing my brother right now!
Michelle: Old habits die hard! Blacks and grays are so pleasing and classic though…they always look chic and pulled together.
Liz: Light blue & brown always look great. I also like the combination of light blue and red together.
Vivienne: The link didn’t work but I checked out their shoes anyway…all of which are super amazing. LOVE!
Joanna: That sounds painful, but I am glad to hear that you are healing! I’ve been in a car accident and fallen down flights of stairs..but I somehow do it all gracefully and manage to walk away unscathed. Haha.

That car! Ridiculous. But kind of awesome, no?
I think I had the opposite kind of week to yours: lots of plans but very little productivity!

This miu miu is just a perfect bag for school/work!
I never broke anything in my life and pretty scared of it.

I think these posts are always my favourite ones! I really need to start carrying my camera with me at all times. I’ve never broken a bone or ever even been in hospital since I was born, yay for health!

I want your Miu Miu bags! They’re just perfect for carrying everything around in the most fabulous fashion.
& I’m totally pimping my inherited BMW out like that when I get to drive it myself!

The more I think I am breaking up with red the more I seem to buy. It will always be my lovah I think. I think I broke some bones in my foot this morning. ugh. I dropped a completely full glass bottle on my foot this morning while I was getting coffee. I also spilled said bottle all over the entire floor.
I too miss Disney. It really is the happiest place on earth. We went in June and it was such a wonderful day.

Aaaahhh that car is always parked by my brother’s apartment in NW! It always makes me laugh. Love it.

1) if that was my car and I did NOT do that myself (I probably wouldn’t), I’d go off on someone. 2) Pantera WOOOT! Thank you, this pic made me day =]

I have a double sided surgical mask someone made me when I was more or less obsessed with them. One side is black with white letters, sort of like a “learning to write” chart. and the other side is green with little yellow bees all over it (as a “melissa”, bees are my visual passion ;D)! I’ve considered wearing it to work, because I sure don’t want any H1N1, eeek.
I also really agree with you on the souviners thing. When I went to Disney earlier this year, I bought myself a watch, a necklace and a tea cup, all of which I use often. (and really, a perfect little white mickey head on a chain is a really good necklace to go with almost anything!)

So funny that you mention how good light blue looks w/ red! I was coming down to the comments to say that red, black, gray/white and aqua is one of my favorite combinations. And I’ll bet with your coloring you’d look fantastic in such a combo.
Your shoes are amazing (I’ve been coveting them for a while now) and your style impeccable. Black satin surgical mask? Of effing course!
Keep up the good work!

The Oregon Liscence plate…a simple yet stunning design that makes me want to move there even more!!! I love trees, forests, ect…

The glove sold for $350,000!! Crazy! I think it was actually priceless
I want one ever so bad lol!
And honestly you need to wear a black satin surgical mask! NEED to! Now that I’m reading up everyone agrees! Haha!
