week in pictures

Goodbyes are never easy. These photos were taken on the day I left Sarasota for the airport. I literally had an hour left and ran out to the beach for one last time. I spent the rest of the day in three airports and arrived back in Portland in the dark. I’m still adjusting to the cold, rain and piles of work that are surrounding me!

I love how your outifts have been matching your scenery lately.
    More beautiful outfit photos, please.

I wish my hair would grow – your’s has rekindled my wish for long healthy hair! Any tips?

  2. Lola says:

Have you ever thought about art direction? The way your clothes and the scenery go together can’t be beat! It needs to be in a magazine or something! Hey…if I’m ever in your area, can we get coffee and talk Graphic Design? I’m going to school at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and check out your website daily! You are such a great inspiration and not to mention helpful to the young, un-knowing designer! :-)

I had never heard of Sarasota until seeing your pictures – it looks amazing. I have actually always wanted to go to Florida. Did you get to the Everglades or see any wetlands?

  4. These are so lovely. You truly look so beautiful. It’s funny some other commenter on your last Style Post mentioned this, and I have to agree. I love how disciplined-yet-creative you are with your style. But because you are an urban girlie your photos always look sleek and modern and cool. I LOOOOOOVE seeing you in this soft nature setting! I mean, i’m not a granola girl by any stretch of the imagination, but something about the organic setting and then you in the middle is soooo stylie.

GO NUBBY!!!! (haha…i had a dyslexic typing moment and wrote “GO BUNNY!” initially! hee)

  5. Sean says:

Those are not beach shoes AT ALL!

That feeling you had about running to the beach one last time, that’s going to be me with In-N-Out Burger before I go back to Canada!

  6. Nubby says:

Sally: Thank you so much! I love your blog!

Amy: It’s funny because I don’t think I was consciously trying to match my scenery…I was trying to show a sweater that hadn’t been seen in photos yet but I love happy accidents.

I don’t have any hair secrets. If anything, I do way too little. It grows, I don’t get it cut very often and I wash it every other day. I use Garnier Nutrisse shampoo and conditioner and blow dry it once it’s just damp. I wish I had some more secrets to bestow!

Lola: Yes! In the next five years or less, I see myself art directing. And you’re welcome to contact me anytime to meet if you’re ever in the area.

becky: Thanks, that is a fantastic article. Will link it this week!

lucinda: I only spent time in Orlando and then Sarasota (on the Gulf of Mexico). I’d love to see more of Florida sometime soon. It’s way more beautiful than I remembered.

alex / galaxie girl: GO BUNNY!!! ;) I do love being out in nature but with living in the middle of the city and then taking regular vacations to New York City, I don’t see the beach or mountains as often as I’d like.

Kathleen: Thanks and I hope to see you again soon.

Miss Peregrin: Thanks, that’s a huge complement!

Auntie Nubs: I am getting my use out of them and conveniently enough, I can pop them open and use them as a weapon!

underfundedheiress: It’s so cozy! When I bought it, it came open but I wrapped and pinned it for a more structured look.

Sean: They are beach shoes in my world; they keep the sand out!

  7. Autumn says:

Aaahh, why didn’t I check this blog earlier?! I had no idea you went to Sarasota, or even heard about it! I go to school there, actually :) Hope you enjoyed it! (And no, there’s nothing to do here besides drink and hang out on the beach).

  8. Leonore says:

what do you use to make your hair so black and shiny? its like continuous! its beautiful…or it looks so manageable..i wish you had some tips on how to keep unruly hair kind! but I assume your hair is naturally soft, shiny and straight.

  9. Nubby says:

Lenore: I do pretty much nothing. Garnier Nutrisse shampoo and conditioner, then a quick blow dry while my hair is still damp. I drye it every few months with Revlon Colorstay dye in black. The only issue with hair this long are the massive knots I wake up with!
