What I Wore: 11.11.09

More outfit photos from the beach in Sarasota! I miss it so much already and am plotting a return visit for next year. Content-wise, I keep doing outfit posts because a lot of the other projects that I am currently working on are still in production. I have many amazing freelance jobs in the works and it’s so hard playing the waiting game. The one thing they forget to tell you in school is that the hardest part of design isn’t really creating the design itself; it’s waiting for it to come out so you can share it with everyone!
It’s a nice, sunny day here in Portland (finally!) but I’ll be spending it mostly inside catching up on work that piled up while I was away and then helping my brother stain our living room floors black (yes, I said black). We just got a cute little 60s mod couch recovered in white vinyl for our new offices as well and I can’t wait to show you once everything is completed.
As a sidenote, I mentioned in my previous post that I am so happy about continually collaborating with Forever 21 because I really do love their clothing. My entire outfit above (besides the footwear) was purchased at their stores.

Your nubby style contrasts so fantastically against the beach and sky, meanwhile I’m sure you are camouflaged in your nest. You look great! Thanks for posting these

Bleiu: You have a point! In my natural habitat (a.k.a. my house), everything is very stark; black & white with red accents so I look like part of the scenery. Not quite the same once I step outside.

The ocian and water are so beautiful and soft, really awesome background for your outfit for sure!!I love how true you are to your style but with slight variations. That is rad!

Nubby, the photos of you and the ocean are so beautiful! For Christmas, I asked for a Forever21 gift card because I’m so inspired by your style! Great shots, once again!

That jacket is awesome! I really dig your style and always love checking out your “what I wore” posts.

You have the *perfect* Florida style here, btw. The Jacket with the SHORTS. Yes! You got it right and you’re not even from here. Haha! love it

I like your blog very well, hope it’s okay that I have linked you to my own. Find much inspiration here. And I really agree that it is difficult to get the ideas out to share with the world. Good luck with your projects:)

Cristi: Thanks! It’s the virgo in me that likes a routine and repetition in what I wear. Some people are happy with changing their look every day but I prefer a defined style.
Lola: Awesome! Part of the appeal of Forever 21 is that you can get a lot of value for your money so those gift cards will be very welcomed, I’m sure.
nadine: Thanks, glad you enjoy them. I never know how many is too many since I don’t really run a style / fashion blog.
melissa dominic: Really?!!! I felt like everyone stared…I felt overdressed…and the platforms were over the top. Hahaha. I had such an amazing time in Florida though and can’t wait to return!

Hey Nubby!
I have a design-related question. Right now i’m developing my portfolio and in it i’m showcasing my design work, photography, among other things. My style is mostly influenced by art and crafts. I want to incorporate that into my portfolio design because it seems elemental to my style but my teacher is advising against it. any suggestions on how to do that without making it seems too arts and crafts-y?

You look amazing….I love those boots on the sand! haha I’m sure they were tricky as hell to maneuver in, but totally worth it. How was the weather down there??
You are always inspiring lady.
And I love the site design you did for Forever 21!!! Here’s to more success in the coming year.

How funny, you were in my town! I’ve lived in Sarasota for the past three years, and sadly for a while I had started to tone down my style because people did always stare. I’ve started to come back from the jeans, tee and flats haze I’ve been living in though! Your boots are killing me, and I wish I had run into you sometime during your stay.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN SARASOTA?! I love there right now because I attend Ringling College of Art and Design!
Oh my! My design role model was here! Hope you had a wonderful time!
