The Typofiles #35: Dansk Magazine

I just rediscovered an old copy of Dansk magazine and I am really enjoying the type treatments that they used throughout the issue. The simple serif type is offset with unexpected wires weaving through the titles yet the composition is anchored with a simple black and white color scheme.

You can view all of The Typofiles on Flickr here.

Absolutely beautiful yet contemporary. I like how it flies in the face of the trend to emboss, bevel and add gradients to type. Goes to show, if you have the right face the interest can be found in the letter-shapes and negative space.

My one complaint is that the first part of SUBSCRIPTIONS reads a little tricky, but I still get it.

Thanks for sharing these pages. Dansk is one of my favourite magazines but I have only been following it since their redesign in 2007 and am curious as to how the magazine looked before. When are these pages from? What do you think of the logo redesign… again?
