With New York, things are never easy. The way I see it, you have to work twice as hard but the payoff is usually twice as big. It’s been a long, interesting week spent with close friends and surprises galore. But, that’s what keeps life interesting. Optimism is so underrated.

Over the weekend Gala and I headed out to Williamsburg in our sequined mouse ears. Gourmet pizza, country music, huge crowds and journal buying made for an enjoyable afternoon.

I totally love the taxidermy I’ve been spotting in New York; it reminds me of Portland and my brother’s vast collection.

I finally got to spend some more time near Wall Street and I really really like it. The gravestones from the 1600s and 1700s are so cute and charming.

The necessities: a new notebook, business cards for my gym and favorite coffee shop and fancy false eyelashes courtesy of Gala.

Good times with good friends: Bianca and Gala are two of the best girls I know; they’re both dependable Virgos that I can always count on, no matter what. I love them both dearly.

Gala took me out to Max Brenner’s where we proceeded to completely overdose on chocolate concoctions. Not a bad way to spend a Thursday afternoon!

love all of these! i love that little graveyard too! hope you stopped in century 21 and that creepy ominous at&t building with no windows – two more of my favorites near there!

  2. Sean says:

    Well since you asked… :)
Quiet and low-key getting ready for San Francisco. Still working on my third piece for the show! But I found out that Harmonix is giving us a copy of The Beatles Rock Band for people to play at the show so that’s cool!

I have tried all kinds of different notebooks but none work for me as well as a regular Mead Five-Star spiral-bound 400 page notebook. Added bonus: covering it in stickers as I fill it up!

New York rules. I stayed in WBurg last time I was there – March ’08. Was super-sad to find out that Chumley’s burned down. But found so many new favorite spots!

    Where was that colorful door?

  3. Nubby says:

Sean: The colorful door is in Soho…I’m pretty sure it’s along Broadway.

Melissa: it’s a new one I just got from MAC called Faux.

Leanne: Yep, it’s pretty gigantic and the menu is just as overwhelming!

Sarah: The dress is the first photo? It’s by one of Forever 21′s in-house brands, Twelve by Twelve.

  4. FreshElan says:

Wow! That ain’t the Max Brenner I went to when I was there, the one you went to is ENORMOUS! This is so great reading up on the good places to go in NYC. Now I know where to go when I visit next year; had no idea there was such a gorgeous old cemetery there.

  5. Katie says:

I always love seeing you in the mouse ears!
It probably seems like such a kooky accessory to some, but I think you prove that they are actually really versatile!

  6. Nubby says:

Insomnia: I picked the up at Disneyland but perhaps the Disney website sells them as well.

Katie: They are definitely kooky, especially once you step outside of the Disney gates, but sometimes a little kookiness is good for the soul.

  7. Excellent pics, sounds like you had an amazing time!

Can I ask you who/what/where about those awesome shoes yer wearing?? The heel looks high enough to be sassy but totally comfy! (btw, I loooove all your shoes, but alas with a 5 year old I can’t rock supah high platforms unless I’m doing a shoot for work and there is no chance of me having to tickle, skip or wrangle Wolfie! haha)

  8. Nubby says:

alex/galaxiegirl: They are shockingly comfortable! If I wear the right socks with them, I can easily walk a mile or more across Manhattan with no blisters or hurt feet. They are my ‘everyday heels’ and are totally amazing. The brand is ZINDA and they are made in Italy.
