Packing Up. My office is looking more empty by the day. I’ve been slowly but surely packing it up because I am moving very, very soon! My brother, Lee and I will soon all be under one roof. I’ve lived with all guys for the last 15 years so I think I can handle it!

Those Glasses. They’re just so good. Basic, solid and stylish. Oscar + Fitch really delivered!

Shoes. I never realized how many light colored shoes I own. Grays, whites and silvers are a great way to lighten up for summer.

To Do. It’s the obsessive Virgo in me that makes a to-do list every day and crosses off each task as it gets finished. It’s the only way I can keep track of what to blog and where to be at any given time.

Inspiring Meetings. Earlier today I had a meeting at Stumptown (on Belmont) about the possibility of doing my own workshop around the topics of marketing yourself as a designer and the role of blogging & social networking in a designer’s life. I’ve been wanting to do this for so long and now that the opportunity is presenting itself, I’m so excited!

How was your week?

I got laid off on Wednesday, which was a complete surprise (and I live in Rhode Island which I believe has the worst case of unemployment in the country) so that completely screwed with my head.

When I got home I remembered an old customer that told me how she was going to have her photos in a show. I emailed her and she emailed me back the info for the person putting on the show and long story short, I’m going to be in my first ever art show!

I recently finished my website, all I have to do it put in more content. I just made business cards to hand out at the show. I had a coffee date with another local photographer who was laid off from his job in December and had said the past six months has been the best in his life. I’m encouraged to take this time to focus more on my photography and video editing and see if I can really make a career out of this and say goodbye to retail for good.

Congratulations! How exciting that you’re buying a home!

Also, LOTS of love for Stumptown. I wish I was right there now. Comfort. And cupping next door. :)

  3. All the best!
Brittany – fly! Spread the wings, girl!

Nubby, I just enrolled into graphic design and want to say a big thank you for all your precious emails and advice.
I love you , girl, even if you don’t know who I am;-)

Also – I would love to have an opportunity to buy a book/e-book from you about the marketing yourself/branding/blogging as a designer ( the same topic that the workshop might be about ). How about recycling some of this posts here?? and making a nice e-book with clean chapters and the most important links…?

Well..I wish you luck, always, forever.
p.s. Please, if you are going to lead this workshop , try to record some of the materials for us. We will certainly buy them!

    Cheers!

I had a fabulous week. Finally found a job and had my first day on monday. My boss and co-workers are great. I’m packing all my stuff up to get ready for a move too. This is going to be the first move of my life. I’ve live in the same house my entire life so this is going to be pretty crazy for me but, I’m so excited. Anyway a big congrats on the house!!

I’ve had a pretty good week. I’ve been happy this week. I’ve been focusing on relationships and have been getting along really well with my family and friends. I am still trying to figure out what I can do in terms of getting a job but have decided to not let that worry me as much as it used to.

I hope the move goes well and I would be very interested in taking a workshop from you. Sounds great!

    What…,no lemon tarts at Stumptown?

By the way, I get my hair cut at Propaganda Salon, which is right around the corner from the bar you’re facing out of the Stumptown window.

  8. Nubby says:

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes on the house!!!! I’ll give you more details once I have the keys in my hands and can go take photos.
Marta-Rawvolta: Congrats on registering for classes. It’s such a great feeling to be living out your dreams on your own terms. And that is a fantastic idea on the e-book!!!
Staar: Good for you on the job front and moving! It’s both scary and exciting but oh so liberating.
melissa dominic: Glad to hear that she’s doing better! My grandma died unexpectedly last year and I miss her so much so it’s always good to treasure every moment you have with her!
Megan: The job conundrum is affecting everyone right now and I bet the second you’re not looking, an amazing opportunity will pop up.
Alicia: That is fantastic news! I have a super cheap MacBook so I envy you!
Auntie Nubs: BABY WANTS LEMON TART!!! They do have them at the Starbucks on 82nd and Holgate and I expect a special delivery every time you drive by there! Haha.

LOL you’re a Virgo? No wonder you’re so stylish & organized! & I was just wondering what your sign was before I got here! :D I’m a Libran scatterbrain, btw.

  10. cassie says:

Look at all those ticks in your little book! I write a to-do list and then immediately forget about it, then write almost the exact to-do list the next day and the next…
