Style Icons

![]()
1. Michael Jackson: Sequins, military-inspired garb & space-age accents!
2. Mickey Mouse: Black, red & white all over. I went as Mickey for Halloween when I was four.
3. Twiggy: Cute & iconic with an androgynous appeal, she inspired my mod dress obsession.
4. Andy Warhol: Classic & very New York with a simple style consisting of jeans, a blazer & a backpack. He let his accessories (the wig & glasses) do the talking.
5. Steve Perry: Late 70s-era with a tailcoat, t-shirt, Levi’s & Nikes paired with long hair. Simple & cool. I went as him for Halloween two years ago!
6. Bjork: The kooky & off-kilter designer outfits she chooses are mind-boggling, but she always seems comfortable in them.
7. A handful of fashion bloggers: Crazy individual style is always inspiring.

wow at your icons, lol.
hmm for me its colors, cultures, my mood, nature, and lot on the net, along with blending it with what I have available to me.

Carine Roitfield is one of my style icons. Mind you I’m not in outfits that cost $10k, but I admire her originality.

I wish I could think of actual women but I love women in suits. Menswear for women is a style I love. Everyone goes to Katharine Hepburn and Diane Keaton in Annie Hall as inspiration but they aren’t for me. This post made me realize that I don’t have any style icons! I should work on that

It’s funny — I can definitely see the influences of all your icons in the way you dress.
I have no idea who my style icons are. Definitely other bloggers, but I often feel style-less… I don’t have a “signature look” yet… I’ll definitely have to think about this!

Hmmm…I tend to be inspired by elements of certain eras like the swing of the 1940′s, the mods and the hippies of 1960′s or the futuristic goth of movies like the matrix. But everything I do has my own punk rawk twist to it. I do have a dirty habit of sneaking a peak at European and Japanese street fashion blogs a couple of times a week. And as for specific persons: Gala Darling, Natalie Portman, Zoetica Ebb & a certain Ms.Nubby.

…,and I’ll just have a Billy Idol to go, please.

Although I wouldn’t say I incorporate much of their looks into my own, do consistently admire and get inspiration from:
Alexa Chung – does great casual
Chloe Sevigny – does great formal
Susie Bubble – does great…weirdness. Ooh, and hair.
Nicola Roberts – rocks the pale redhead thing and has more style in her little finger than her (Girls Aloud) bandmates put together
Fave designers: Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood & Christian Lacroix.
and obviously…Nubby and Gala! For both style and attitudes

Hooray! Bjork is so amazing! She’s been my style icon since I was in school! I adore her eccentricity, and ,as you mentioned, the way she is always so completely comfortable in her kooky outfits. She’s the kinda gal who’d wear a crochet replica of a coral reef just to nick into the shops for a loaf of bread. I love it!
I must say, Dr.Steel has lately become a bit of an icon too. I love his top-hat wearing, pvc labcoat clad crazy ass!
