The Week in Pictures: 2.20.09

I love these pants (um, crooked cuffs and all). I found them at a big, strange gothy megastore in Atlanta in 2004 when I was on tour and every time I wear them, without fail I hear someone say “Nubbyjuice, Nubbyjuice, Nubbyjuice!”

I went out to dinner with my dad to our favorite German restaurant and when I ordered a hard cider, I wasn’t expecting a massive bottle from England! Anyway, if you’re ever in town and want to take me to dinner, Gustav’s is the place! If you’re really special, I might even wear my lederhosen…

It’s rare to find an amazingly made up face taking up a full spread, but last month’s Marie Claire did not disappoint. My bulletin board is always such a mish-mash of odds and ends.

I’m not a person that cares about gifts on Valentine’s day. Instead, Lee Z & I went to a benefit at Nemo and donated some money to Ace & Eric. It felt good to have a great night in the company of friends while making a little difference.

This is one of those ubiquitous items that’s instantly recognizable as an IKEA piece. Does that make me love it any less? Not really. It’s like a mod spaceship flower, don’t you think?

This is one of my most favorite book covers ever. I always pull it out to admire but still have yet to read it. Maybe when I’m retired there will be sufficient time?
This weekend, I’ve gotta start packing for Hawaii, plan a trip to Disney Land (!!!), get my business receipts sorted for the CPA and get some more of my 09 portfolio together. Busy busy!
How was your week? Do you have any big plans for the weekend?

Nubby, I know you are technically married to Gala and stuff; but if you weren’t, I’d take you to http://www.cafemunich.co.nz/ and there would be happiness…

sabine: That’s what I’ve heard! I’m a bit obsessed iwth lederhosen though because my parents bought me my first pair from Austria in 1984 with heart-shaped pockets:

They’re so much cooler looking than wearing shorts in the summer too!
Kate: Oooh, well, I may have to cheat for a bit so I can go there! Haha. Looks awesome!!!

i saw some lederhosen yesterday in a vintage shop, and i thought of you! They were dark green with a heart on, they were quite large though.
Aww Beetlejuice, i wanted to watch that a few days ago. Nubbyjuice .. interesting.. you should make some and sell it haha, well at least make some mock packaging just for fun! I wonder what i would taste like, hopefully not squished Nubby! It should be some delicious flavour, your favourite probably, what would that be? x

that’s so strange to write something and only little time later somebody is answering from thousands of kilometres away, like talking to somebody at the other end of the world!
and unlike the little chubby-faced boys in my head you’re really looking cool in those lederhosen…i think the hearts do the trick.

was the store in atlanta called junkman’s daughter?

Shauna: Probably vanilla and chai.
sabine: Totally, I think about that all the time! The internet is a pretty amazing thing. I think that lederhosen for me have a certain kitsch value here in the U.S…though I probably wouldn’t wear them if I was in Germany!
ashley: That sounds really familiar, I think that was it! So insane.

Gustav’s is my favorite place to eat when I drive through Portland. I’m glad to know locals love it too!

I’m in love with those striped pants. Sigh…
Your blog is AWESOME, by the way.

i suggest when you go to disneyland you get fastpasses for all the rides you want to get on early in the day. especially space mountain. I waited in line for an hour and a half to get to the door and another 30 minutes to actually get on the ride. Indiana Jones is no joke either. about 45-60 minute wait. But it’s sooo much fun.
Also I don’t remember if it was you who had posted a link to an article about the correlation between art and a declining economy. If it WAS you, could you please re-post it??

Disneyland? You’re holding out on me!

enna: Hooray for another Gustav’s fan!!!
amanda: Thanks for the advice! I already have a free day pass left over from…1995(!!!) that never expires, so I’m just using that.
Auntie Nubs: I though I told you that I was planning a trip to LA in march! Oops!

Your cider is from Suffolk in England where I live! It is very difficult to find it outside of Suffolk in the UK so i’m shocked to see it on the other side of the world!
