Helvetica Notebook

I wrote about this notebook back in 2007 but with the sudden popularity of the Helvetica Moleskine, I thought that some of you who missed this the first time around may be interested. The ruled notebook is available through Veer and features quotes from Gary Hustwit’s Helvetica documentary throughout.

So, what about you? Do you love Helvetica? Hate it?

I like Helvetica, and find it almost 100% aesthetically pleasing, but can I be anal and say that I find the letter A in the font is quite different to all the other letters, as the shape of the tail does not end in a block (like the fullstop, the bottom tail of the y, the bottom tail of the u etc.
I always wondered why there was that inconsistency.
perhaps as a designer you can shed some light on that?
Helvetica is such a love affair. I would love it to death if I wasn’t already dating Trebuchet MS. ;P
Love it! No doubts about it
I find the Veer website sheer torture – if only it delivered to the UK!
Cy: I love your sense of humor!
Vixel: I had no idea that they didn’t ship overseas. So unfair for the rest of the world!!!
Love love love.
Although I’m beginning to discover other sans-serifs that appeal to me slightly more so in certain situations.
I like Helvetica, though I think it’s overused at times. Last year, when I went to NYC in March, I went to the MoMA and it turns out that they had a special exhibit on typography. I was thrilled!
And I think I have you to blame for getting my first moleskine…I got the Helvetica one.
I just found out that the Helvetica Moleskine notebook is available for purchase (limited time) from moleskineasia.com: http://www.moleskineasia.com/site/shop/Limited.htm
A bit pricey ($198), but worth it.
Wait, that’s $198 HK, that’s $25 American plus shipping.
I like Helvetica… though sometimes the weighting makes it seem like some letters (i’s j’s and l’s) sit closer to other letters – making it not quite evenly spaced. Am I nuts, or is it truly weighted that way?
I wish the typeface weren’t so over-used in corporate marketing (the Helvetica documentary paints it as a “faceless corporate typeface”). That documentary was awesome.
love! and it goes SO WELL with black, white and red.
I love helvetica and I would really love that notebook, but it won’t ship out of North America
LOVE Helvetica. I’m constantly on the look out for it! It’s crazy how much it’s used everywhere.
I love Helvetica! Practically use it everyday.
I adore Helvetica. However, I am an architecture student in Scotland, and was recently working on a group project, and when we sat down to agree on a common font to use I suggested Helvetica only to be met by gales of laughter from my male colleagues! Why would this be?! What’s so funny about it?? (We used it in the end; I like to get my own way!)
aren’t the quotes specifically from massimo vignelli? i just watched the documentary today in my art studies class and it was quite awesome. very insightful with an okay soundtrack.
Helvetica is a classic. It will always be used. I think that veer handled this project in a very interesting way. But I think there are some other san serif typefaces that can provide a fresh approach to a project. Like Avenir for example.
I love helvetica, Its a classic. I really would love that notebook. Why can’t you, won’t you ship out of America?
I mean why won’t Veer delivered/ship to Sweden? It’s a wide world!
