This week, my coworker Joel brought in a massive stack of vintage NYLON, Jalouse and FLAUNT magazines for me! I can’t wait to sit down and flip through their pristine pages to see what 2003 was like (I was in college full time and need a refresher!)

All week, I’ve been surrounded by black and white stacks of logo concepts at work (top image) and collage & merch ideas at home (bottom). I love it!

And then, ironically enough I came home and watched the uncut version of Michael Jackson’s Black or White video. The last few minutes always blow me away.

On Wednesday, I was in a meeting all day where we went over trend forecasting with some clients and guess who popped up on one of the sheets? Everyone’s favorite communist (with the fanciest sunglasses around) Kim Jong il! Haha.

After a few hours of discussing logos and trends, we went out to lunch. I won’t get into the toxic orange sludge that coated most of the guy’s fingers. Though, it should be noted that many pitchers of Rainier beer were consumed to wash it all down.

Our clients are awesome and sure know how to have a good time. Obviously.

I finally tracked down a pair of the black Dries heels from the Fall 2007 collection. They’re basic, classic and actually stay on my feet. Score!

How was your first full week of 2009?

Ooh a very black and white post, besides the beer anyway!
Could you tell me what the font is in the third photo down in the 123456789 image please? I love it, i often see it but never know what it is :) x

there’s nothing i love more than a magazine, especially one that gives a glimpse into the past! i love flipping through the magazines i read in junior high and high school (i saved them all!) and guessing what used to be in the places where i’d cut something out.

    nice set!
My first week was pretty slow during the day and out more nights than I’d initially thought (isn’t everyone tired from the holidays) Liking the night tempo so far.

Oh, wow! I’m jealous of that Nylon collection! I have a big collection of Elle mag that I haven’t flicked through for yeeears, but I can’t bare to throw them away. I think I might put them away somewhere for my future daughter or something so she can look back at the new millenium & laugh ;)

I adore your “week in pictures” posts.

Also, the tights – I’ve been looking for a pair of diamond pattern tights, as the pair I have is looking a little tattered (*sad*) – did you find that pair recently?

  6. I have those pumps too…they hurt my toe!! I think they are so fabulous! One of the prettiest pumps ever. I wish they didn’t hurt my toe. I’m going to try them again–you inspired me. judy

  7. Nubby says:

    Shauna: Bodoni.

Birdie: They’re old, but I think that DKNY still makes them.

judy: I remember that old Sea of Shoes post where you and Jane showed off your amazing Dries collection! I’ve noticed that the toe box on the pumps is really shallow. They’re not uncomfortable, but a bit tight. I hope yours end up working out!

Auntie Nubs: Ah, we’re on the same shoe wavelength!

Jen: Yay, another fellow Dries lover!

I have a stack of magazines in my cupboard but that is back when I used to read things like Cosmo. Ew. I hope my daughter (or son) will appreciate my collections of Vogue’s when they are older though! x
