Office / Studio Space Part #1

A few of you have asked to see my workspace / studio space. I’ve been moving some things around and cleaning, but in the meantime, here is a little glimpse. A full tour is coming very soon!

I’ve probably said it before, but I’m totally in love with that rug. Your workspace is so clean and neat! Mine looks like total chaos in comparison – you’ve inspired me to clear it up a bit!

Vixel: I’m a total Virgo organizational freak at heart. Even when I’m collaging a piece of art, the scraps never scatter very far! Everyone has their own working style….does the chaos inspire you?

Beautifull! A good desk is the key to a lot of good things! That’s why my shcool work is rubbish! :D

i have that screen saver. every time it pops up, i fall in love with it again. and again. and again. you get the point.. it’s sharp.
your workspace looks ideal for a red/black/white girl like myself. my favorite is the yellow thrown in. i can’t do r/b/w without yellow. my classroom was covered in faux wood paneling; to rememdy that, i papered the walls in red/white/black and yellow.
the red wall is a wall of frames that stand alone.. random writing gems (i’m an english teacher) and creative quotes are placed behind the dead frames. the white wall houses drawings given to me by students, my photos from my trips to NYC and my MirĂ³s. the black wall showcases student work and my homemade english posters (i cannot stand the pre-fab posters for teachers. i’m convinced someone decided all rules and been printed back in the early 80′s, so all production stopped). the yellow wall houses the calendar. i finally got my hands on a stendig calendar http://www.stendigcalendar.com/ i cannot wait to adorn the walls with such beauty!
one of my goals this year is to become more organized. i envy organized people like you!
whoa, i just realized this became an ubercomment. i came off as the crazy person who spews their life story when you say hello and politely ask how’re you.
sorry about the ramble!

Does it take a lot of discipline to have such a selective color palette? Even though I do have favorite colors, I’m always being drawn to random pieces. It looks amazingly put-together the way you set up your space. Do you think through every piece you buy?

As a Portland girl myself, if you don’t mind me asking, roughly what part of town do you live in?

oh wow, this is incredible. i find a clean&organized (&colourcoordinated! bonus!) desk very important for create work, but somehow i never manage to keep mine this clean. and you should think i’m a virgo too ;)

Sometimes it inspires me, when I’m surrounded by chaotic piles of books and clippings, but when most of it is receipts and old post-its it gets drives me crazy until I throw the whole lot out and start again!

Your workspace is awesome! So neat and perfectly organized!

I wish mine could be like that but since I share with my dad it never stays clean long enough.

The rug is awesome!

angela: Your classroom sounds AMAZING.And, that’s totally dreamy that you have a Stendig for it. Where were teachers like you when I was in school?!

J: For me, it doesn’t take any discipline…it’s just a natural progression! And I live in S.E.

Vixel: Ahhh, the dreaded influx of sticky notes! ;)

ginevra: It is a rug from Urban Outfitters (I’ll list sources in the next post).
