2009 Goals

Since the year is almost up, I’ve been giving some thought to my goals for 2009. It’s been a bit harder to define what I’d like to accomplish in the new year because I crossed off some pretty big things in 2008. I graduated with my second degree, landed my dream job, bought loads of amazing shoes and spent almost every day doing graphic design or making art, so I’m pretty content already!

I do think that it’s important to be reasonable with expectations for yourself. If your list is too outlandish, it’s easy to get discouraged and to give up! I find that making daily to-do lists helps me stay accountable and to be more aware of what I’ve accomplished.

This is what I came up with, in no particular order:

1. Redo & reprint graphic design portfolio.
2. Launch paid adspace on my site.
3. Finish PDF portfolio for download.
4. Launch 10 new Nubbytwiglet.com merch items.
5. Be more selective about what I buy / give it more thought.
6. Begin editorial art series & explore Psychedelic Relics series.
7. Save x amount of dollars. I have everything I need!
8. Reach top 10,000 blogs on Technorati (I’m at about 25,000 now).
9. Disney-themed birthday with Gala (including tons of balloons & Mickey Mouse ears)!!!
11. Travel to New York, Vegas, Honolulu, LA, Phoenix, Oregon Coast & more.
12. Launch lifestyle & apparel line with my brother.
13. Hit 1,000 blog posts on Nubbytwiglet.com.

What are your goals for 2009?
What are you going to implement to make them happen?

the most important thing to me is getting accepted to fashion school /or figuring out a different way to make my dreamjob come true.
also, getting my blog running properly, picking up new skills (photography/design/crafty stuff) and to stop spending money for small cheapie things and save up for travel&quality shoes haha.

  2. Nubby says:

erika: See, now that’s a nice, concrete goal!

    brittanny: Amen!

katherine: Which fashion school? And, I totally agree with easing up on buying cheap / badly made things. I just cleaned out my closet today and my goodbye pile was full of icky material / awkward patterns / cheap stuff!

  3. AmyTheFreak says:

    1. Design/create a personal actor website.
    2. Get more acting work to fill out my resume.
    3. Quit my annoying habits.
    4. Network. Network. Network.
    5. Get fabulous grades/a scholarship.

  4. Gala says:

I have an entire text file called ’2009′, I’m planning my calendar in there too! So far I have trips in January, February, March, May, September & October! HOLY SHIT! As for my goals, they are numerous. I’m actually going to break them down by month. I am kind of superstitious about publicising them too, eep! What a dork!

  5. Nubby says:

Gala: I totally understand…actually, I left out our ‘blog project’ and a few other things for that reason! And, the more Disney, THE BETTER! I think I still have a free day left on my super pass from like 2004! Haha!

  6. Staar says:

    1. Learn how to hula hoop
    2. Move to Toronto
    3. Get better grades at uni
    4. Stop buying crap that I don’t need
    5. Work on having a better relationship with my parents
    6. Get a tatoo
    7. Start Saving money so I can visit Paris

  7. Nubby says:

Gala: I meant that I have a day left on my pass from 1994! I haven’t been on a Disney vacation in almost 15 years…and for that reason we must totally overdo it!!

Staar: Paris! That would be amazing…
Your list is super realistic and I’m sure you’ll make it all happen.

  8. Dawn says:

~Start my own blog (which basically boils down to creating a name) and contribute to the design one more

~Agree on the save x amount of dollars

~Get healthy, so I can travel as much as possible(back to Estonia is first on the list)

~Clean/organize/Donate massive amounts of stuff. ( I have never stayed put this long, and have become a pack rat!)

~Learn how to actually use photoshop

    ~Sew more..again

    ~Try a new meal once a week

~Find the time to volunteer more, even if I have to MAKE the time

~Settle down a bit. I don’t always need to be moving a mile a minute. Take time to enjoy my surroundings.

nubby, the cleaning out sounds totally familiar, still cheapie stuff keeps on magically popping up in my closet. it has to stop!
i’ll be applying to 4 different fashion schools in vienna, which might give me a slight chance to be accepted at least for one of them ;)
