What I Wore: 12.14.08

This set of pictures is a little different…it doesn’t snow in Portland very often, but it came down in buckets today! My two aunts and I had planned a shopping trip to Downtown Portland weeks in advance and we weren’t about to let a massive storm stop us!

All morning on the news, there were shots of cars spun out on the freeways and declarations of “ARCTIC BLAST 2008!!” The newscasters warned us that it would be best to stay home. But, my aunts are fearless! We drove all over the city, took the streetcar up steep hills and made it home in one piece. My mom hates this weather; thank god she moved to Phoenix earlier this year!

What I wore:
Zipper jacket, Halogen
Oversized zipper sweater, Urban Outfitters
Marbled jeans, Kill City
Wool beret, Forever 21
Purse, Miu Miu
Striped gloves, Marc Jacobs
Boots, Harley (with custom treads)
P.S. Thank you to NZgirl for featuring me in their Get the Look: Blogging Superstars article!

Wow, It’s really snowing a lot in Portland, but you look great. I like that you mix up your colors in the winter too with the splashes of white, green and red. It can be so hard not to just wear black in the winter. I tend to do that so I am going to buy a red coat.
It has started to snow where I am too but I stayed in trying to keep warm.

Wow! I love that outfit! Is that considered to be a lot of snow in Portland? Wow! You’d hate to see Montreal! There’s so much snow, walking in it downtown can be a nightmare! Up to your ankles on the popular side-walks, and up to your knees on the uncleared paths!

I just love you. I’m simple like that.

I love your gloves! I’m in Lake Oswego on a hill and we can’t even get to the store by foot or car. Boo!

Retro.Bunny: It’s not a lot of snow, but it is the really wet kind that started turning to ice right away! The city never gets it as bad as the outskirts…but it was enough to mess things up! I don’t know how you cope with such cold weather / so much snow!!
Big Gay Wizard: You’re my hero. Wanna fly over on your magic carpet and visit me?!
J: My mom used to live out there on one of those hills and I know how bad they can get! She’d get stranded up there! Those hills are hardcore steep and icy!

I live in Phoenix and I’d LOVE to live some place where it got cold and snowed sometimes. The grass is always greener I guess.

I live in Calgary, Canada, so I want to call your news people “wimps”.
I’m currently stuck in -40 windchills and the streets could function as skating rinks. We once laughed at toronto for getting the military to come help out with snow removal while we had it twice as bad.
And how do you look so good in cold weather? I’m a red faced snow thing when it’s cold.

Elizabeth Ilia: That’s ridiculously cold, it’s in the 20s here and that’s bad enough! How do you drive on solid ice?! We have a lot of hills here that become impossible to drive…

Very very carefully and winter tires.

I love seeing you on the streets of your home-town! Nubby’s guide to Portland would be a big hit, I think! <3 you!

Brrr just looking at that makes me cold.
But snow! Wow you’re lucky. We never get snow here, just weird sleet which comes down horizontally and melts as soon as it touches the ground.

your aunt always takes the best pictures. Tell her great composition!

and i love your jeans. everyone seems to be wearing kill city jeans lately and they look so amazing and comfortable. are they expensive? i think i want a pair. i haven’t worn jeans in forever but i need at least a good pair and i want an acid wash pair!

Gala: I’ve never done a city guide because I don’t really have much to offer! I’ve lived here my entire life so nothing really strikes me as being new or special…I think it’s more exciting when you visit / move to somewhere new because you get a way different perspective!
bianca: You know it!! You are my master photographer, after all.
dayna: I live in Portland and Kill City’s aren’t very expensive.

Haha! Actually, I just found my little bit of salvation when I went shopping this weekend. http://www.sorel.com/Product.aspx?top=2&cat=220&prod=29
Water-proof, keep your feet warm until -40C, and a rather cute herringbone pattern! Perfect for Montreal.
