The Week in Pictures: 12.12.08

Every year, the Nemo girls (a.k.a. shemo) try to outdo the boys at our holiday party. This year we decided to make a calendar featuring our careers post-Nemo. I posed as a nurse since I’d require a profession that allowed me to wear red + white and lots of crosses! Thanks to the Studio Nemo girls for pulling off such an awesome shoot!

This week has been very atypical; I was out six nights straight at a wide range of events (see below!) that left me with very little home office time. Sure, I had fun, but now it’s time to play some major catch-up!

I haven’t legitimately been to the zoo in about 10 years, so when my dad offered to take me this weekend, I was pretty excited. We had a blast (and the animals didn’t seem to mind my marbled jeans and impractical footwear). Favorite animals that day: mountain goats!

While I was at the zoo, my brother called me and asked if I wanted to go to Nine Inch Nails with him. HELL YES! We met up with the Dandy Warhol’s manager at will-call and he graciously gave us not only general admission tickets, but backstage passes!

On a side note, totally unplanned, as I was walking towards him, I realized that we were both wearing WHITE JEANS. What a faux pas! I should have known better; this kind of stuff ALWAYS HAPPENS. Siamese twins?

I hadn’t been to a general admission arena concert since Marilyn Manson 10 years ago (where we both felt like we were gonna die from the crush of the audience), but luckily, the crowd was well-behaved and Trent sounded amazing. The light show was equally amazing.

Boy, does Nemo know how to throw a party! Our festivities at the Doug Fir included an appearance by some distinguished gentlemen in Boy Scouts uniforms with tiny green shorts (oh, those were the owners), a Journey song request (oh, that was me), an open bar (can we blame our rowdiness on it?), a magical lit up floor that always tempts me to do moves from the Billie Jean video, an amazingly tasty catered dinner (those mashed potatoes!!!), and best of all, good times with good friends.

That magical glow wins me over every time!

At some point, a Nemo-ite found a box of black super balls that had been stashed away and we went a little crazy bouncing them around the office. After one landed in a coworker’s coffee mug and another hit a few computer monitors, we decided that enough was enough. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!
How was your week?

i bet that bar smells fantastic, like christmas and good rowdiness.

bianca: The only time I’d wear that is for conventions and stuff. It’s way too crazy for a work photo shoot! I wanted a more classic look for the calendar.

I had a FANTASTIC WEEK! I adopted a new slogan for life: Carpe Diem… and it has done me well.
I love your Nurse picture, it’s so fitting (aesthetically) and your X-mas party looks so awesome.

You manage to be way more attractive than any girl strutting around in a “Sexy Nurse (TM)” costume ever could be!
And now I totally have a jones for a zoo-trip…or maybe to the aquarium…

All I can say about you in the nurse uniform is:
SHWING!
(Which seems odd since this is the 1st comment I’ve ever left on your blog!)

phiz: Multi-day birthday celebrations are the best!
Alice: Thank you! I have much crazier uniforms but I tried to be modest about my outfit choice, since it was work-related.

tres excitement to backstage at NIN – my all time favourite band! very jealous, but clearly you appreciated it so i don’t feel too sad.
trent has said after this tour there probably won’t be any more for an unknown amount of time! i’m seeing them for the third time this coming february at a festival here in aus, and i’m hoping with all my might they do a solo show the night before although nothing’s been announced.
i always love finding out my favourite bloggers love good music!

The Dandys = love! I’ve seen them about three times in concert now, and I love that they always come “home” for a holiday show!

The calendar sounds cool, and you look awesome as Nurse Nubby!
(not that you are a crazy nurse haha). I had a fake injection needle filled with blood too but mine was only little and was also a pen, i was so impressed when i found it! It was so cool and entertained me muchly until someone at the party pilfered it
This Halloween i dressed as a nurse.. a crazy nurse though. I hardly ever wear white or red, i don’t feel they suit me, but as i was drawing the red crosses and putting on the outfit, it totally reminded me of you

We just saw NIN a few weeks ago in Worcester, MA (11/9/08). It was a rescheduled show from August, so he totally overcompensated and PETER MURPHY from Bauhaus came out and did songs. My fifteen year old self was DYING. Did anyone else see him in MA??

xhellsx: Yes, I was interviewed for it awhile back!
Catherine: That’s so awesome! I met Peter Murphy at a goth convention (!) in 2000 and he was awesome. I’ve heard such good reviews from the NIN shows so far!
