Week in Pictures: 12.5.08

My dad is a salesman for 3M and distributes prescription safety eyewear. Sometimes, he’ll find ancient relics in doctor’s offices. These were a recent score and the odd center nosepiece reads ALL AMERICAN. Hmmm….I’m assuming that these were special safety glasses of some sort?

I finished this poster this week and the edition with pink accents is now available for sale in my store!

After seeing these on a few others, I bought two pairs and they are truly awesome. People keep teasing me and saying that they’re acid washed…but they’re really marbled. I think that these jeans paired with my gray wedges are sort of like a futuristic take on 80s fashion.

On Thursday, I hit a few galleries downtown with my brother and Lee. I’m in two shows this month (at Sequential Art Gallery & Gallery Paradiso).

I finished off last night with some friends at The Art of Musical Maintenance show and when I looked down, I noticed the word BACON written along the edge of our table. Is there some deeper meaning? Is it a statement about our world’s current peril? Is it art?!
How was your week?

Those glasses are killer!
This week breezed by quickly. I’m glad it’s finally getting cold down here in Austin!

This week was good, a few snags business wise, quite tiring, but overall quite good. That Bacon shot is hilarious.
Your shoes in the Wayward Wives picture, what color are they? I can’t tell if they’re silver, white with silver, white with gray or what. Lol!

MeganiD: Thanks- they’re fine for silly photos, but I’d never wear them out of the house!
Jami: Haha, all of the above. White rubbed off with silver underneath!

I’d rather think it was somebody who got too drunk and thought it’d be hilarious to scribble the name of a breakfast food on the side of a table.
I like it.

You’re so cute ! you even look great with those glasses! they’re so funky!
I like the ‘marbled’ pants, but I have to admit I don’t really know what ‘marbled’ is, hehe.
I tend to like embarrasing things from the 80′s too…we can’t help it we grew up on it!
It feels so riiaght.
Oh! I was recently in Paris & look what I saw that reminded me of you!

I have major shoe envy. My college student budget is a killer! I love the Wayward Wife poster, as well. Nice work!

i love how you see the word bacon, and want to see it as art. inspiring. everything is art in a way…

Kelly: Oddly enough, a few inches away from BACON, the same person wrote AIDS!
Althea: Marbled is just the wash of the denim. It literally looks like someone was swirling white and gray paint together up close! That red cross light is amazing, thanks for sharing.
sarah: I totally understand…I was in college foreverrrr, working retail! It gets better!
mermaid: I was just being silly, I don’t really think there’s a deeper meaning!

my week started with getting free tickets for Dalailama XIV lecture (wich will be next thursday). then on tuesday i got a package with my beautiful 4 cocktail rings (pale pink, baby blue, crystal and black) and celebrated it with guacamole. on wednesday i found my turquoise purse and got drunk while smoking nargila with my flatmate, thursday was a lazy day spend with coffee mug in bed, reading delicious books. today i was learning for the next week’s TOEFL exam (sad but true, i have to pass it to apply at my second uni) and now with a bowl full of sweetcorn and peas with mayonnaise i head of for a movie night in front of my mac. perfect lazy friday evening.
have a nice weekend!

The centre piece of those glasses looks like a tooth.

Thank you for answering my question! It was sort of driving me nuts. Lol

ah the most feared disease…
Bacon AIDS.
It causes one to slowly but surely sprout strips of deliciously fatty fried food all over their face and body, in miniature.
Now THAT would be scary.

I have been looking for ‘acid wash’ skinnies for awhile… Haven’t quite found a pair that fits right.

p.s you look verrrry pretty in the glasses and grey sweater!

I have never seen glasses like that and I love unique frames so I always keep my eyes peeled.
That is so cool that you are in two art shows right now. I love to go to my city’s “First Fridays” to check out the galleries.

There is a tooth between those lenses! Maybe it came from a dentist? I love them.
