The Week in Pictures: 10.10.08

week in pictures nubby twiglet typography

It’s been freezing coooolllld all week which means that I’ve been pulling out all of my favorite sweaters! I bought this massive mohair wonder from an Australian girl a few years back and it’s so cozy!

Yes, I like shoes. I’ve been recently inspired by my brother who redid his room with a massive wall of shelves displaying his collection of rare Nikes. When we were younger, one of our favorite games to play was ‘store,’ so it seems natural that we’re both really into displaying items! I took all of the storage bins out of my office bookshelf and replaced them with my favorite shoes. I’m so much happier with the minimal boutique look!

Top Row: Gray Dries Van Noten wedges, black Michael Kors wedges, Green Chloé wedges.
Bottom Row: Burgundy Dries Van Noten wedges, green YSL heels, Miu Miu heels.

Last weekend, I visited an antiques store down the street and found this vintage purse by the mysterious Roger Van S. I’m beyond picky about purses and usually stick to European designers, but the design on this was way too unique to pass up (and only $12.00)!

*I apologize for the abbreviated post, but my time has been spent on a team designing an amazing line of headphones all week! I’ve already learned so much about creating patterns and working with multiple clipping masks. Next week, the WiP will be back with a vengeance! Promise!

How was your week? Did you find some awesome shoes? Did you make a personal or professional breakthrough? Are you working on a project that you’re really proud of? Share!

oh Nubby, designing headphones? *jealous* Thats exactly what I want from my future career, the chance to work on a variety of amazing projects.
I’m researching different careers & currently really interested in the whole PR/marketing aspect of things, which I know you have a degree in? Im hoping I have the right skills for it though.

Those shoes of yours are DIVINE. The shoe section of shops are the first part I run to. I was squealing with excitement yesterday when I came upon this amazing pair of shoes in my size, I couldn’t help but parade up and down with my mum (who is also a shoe obsessive.)

I feel like I would be constantly distracted by my shoes if they were always on display as I was working. They do look really chic though!

That shoe display using the Ikea bookcase is a wicked idea! I have this bookshelf and need a bigger one for my books, now I can use it to display my shoes!
SWOONORAMA.

awesome shoeness:)
You make me want to display my goods all over my house as well…
I tend to do that when I first get things and I’m still really really into them, I just display them close to wherever I’m working or hanging out :)

Is your house sort of like a Nubby Museum?

& will you be able to share your headphone designs once they’re finished? that’d be great.

I hope you have a fantastical weekend pretty lady!!

I had a great interview on Tuesday afternoon for a job I really would love and be good at. I am trying to stay positive because they had other people to interview and I was told that I would get a call within a week if I was invited back to meet the rest of the senior staff.

I actually didn’t buy anything this week except food.

I am planning to shop for Halloween costume stuff, workout, and get lots of website and design work done this weekend.

Yay for productivity!

Headphones?? I’m really excited to see those one day! I’ve been in the market for a nice set of ‘phones recently, so I’ve been gobbling up pictures of them, especially ones like THESE!:

Nix Pix: That’s awesome! Enjoy every moment….those 20s have a way of flying by!

Freya: Luckily the shelf is against the wall behind my desk so the shoes don’t bother me so much.

claire: A general business admin degree with a concentration in marketing (what I have) goes really far because it’s so open-ended.
It’s a great base for whatever else you want to do and always looks good on a resumé.

Related PR / marketing skills are something you pick up over time and jobs are usually willing to train you in specifics…it’s impossible to know everything when you walk through the doors!

So, did you get the shoes??

Mademoiselle Robot: Mine is actually the West Elm version. It was twice as expensive, but is built a bit better and is ON WHEELS!!! I’m glad you’re going to display your shoes, also. There’s no reason to keep them in hiding!

Althea: My place is very ‘me’ but I try to keep it pretty minimal besides my office so my boyfriend doesn’t feel engulfed by my stuff! Once the headphones are available in stores, I’ll let you know!

Dana: The suspense after an interview is the WORST. An entire week?!

My sisters and I used to play store too as children.
Is the sweater you are wearing handknitted. It is great!

the famous nemo: Wow, that’s awesome. Congrats!

Elizabeth: The sweater had a label in it when I originally got it, so I think it’s mass-produced.

I scored a really great dress from a local brand here in Manila, and the price is surprisingly not bad….plus 2 pairs of leggings in cool colors of silver gray and desserty purple.

I finally got a job that I am lusting after 3 years of working freelance/contractual. It finally pays off! For this company like my work and my style…and I love the working environment and the company benefits that they offer. I feel that I am going to stay there for a while….

lovely sweater (the black and white stripe), looks absolutely divine~!

Hello from Manila Philippines~!

I love your shoe collection. Did you design the SHOES lettering. If so how did you make it, I love it.

This weekend I went to an antique fair and got a gorgeous necklace, and splurged and spent $100 on makeup. I found the perfect foundation! Smashbox Rocks. Love all your latest pieces. Your show looked stellar. Keep up the inspring work.

Liz: I think they’re from the Fall 2005 RTW collection…I think? That’s when I saw them in Barney’s NYC anyway!
