The Gareth Pugh Spring 2009 collection totally blew my mind. Though English, he hit the road this season, showing in Paris for the first time. How can you possibly avoid the charm of his futuristic Victorian vision? Even in this economic slowdown, designers like Pugh keep us inspired with their exotic sensibilities. I am in awe of these designers that manage to make clothing more than a simple necessity. These pieces really are wearable art!

oh wow, those are absolutely stunning. they remind me of geometry if it were scale-y and reptilian.

Papercraft, formerly used only by geeks to create wearable Pyramid Head helmets and DIY Transformers, has now reached Paris runways. Beautiful, elegant, but not terribly practical in the rain.

I loved his collection too. It just makes me think of space armadillos – a good thing in my books! x

rubyfire: YES, that is so funny (and sadly true)!

Marie: We will be reptilian space invaders together. Go team!

Mademoiselle Robot: That pretty much sums it up. Love it.

he’s totally amazing. I’ve been following him for a few seasons now, and he just gets better and better. It’s my dream to own something designed by him one day.

Who can resist a beautiful ruff? I also really like how the outfits are white on one side and black on the other. pure genius.

hey nubby this is totally unrelated the post but i read your blog pretty religiously and just wanted to say that i’m a virgo too who happens to only wear red black and white. hah but anyhoo i know you were looking for those chloe open toe wedges and i saw that forever21 has a knockoff: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=footwr&sub%5Fcategory=&search%5Fsize=&search%5Fcolor=&search%5Fprice=&product%5Fid=2050066458&Page=4#

now i have mixed feelings on knockoffs but for $28 it’s worth a try.

anyway keep up the awesome work. this blog is so wonderful.

gina marr: You mind reader, you! I actually saw thew knock-offs at F21 when I was in NY last month and restrained myself from buying them. But, just yesterday I was contemplating buying the all grey authentic Chloés, so we’ll see! Thanks for thinking of me.

Amelia: Because of the way the runway shots were composed, I didn’t notice the black backs / white fronts at first. The combo makes these outfits even better! He’s so crafty and innovative.

The detail is great! Some of these remind me of legos or transformers. I have never seen this designer before, but it seems like British designers are usually some of the best because their creations are so avant garde.
