Black & White Graphic Insight: The Handshake

The Handshake, 2008
Collage, ink and resin on wood

For every series, I make a conscious decision to make a handful of smaller scale, more affordable pieces that are in line with the overall theme. I’ve always felt that art should be accessible and because if this, if someone cannot afford one of my larger pieces, I still want them to have an opportunity to take a piece home with them.

I fear I failed to clarify my comment that I didn’t know you were an artist… I use a feed reader, so I hadn’t seen you in your full glorious self. Keep it up! I am loving it.

  2. As someone who has worked in galleries (it’s actually what I went to get my Master’s in Arts Admin for), I find the attitude of wanting art to be accessible very appealing. Too often people seem to want all art to be high art, and it often makes it intimidating and unapproachable to most people. For me, personally, I love nothing more than to find a beautiful piece of art that I *want* to hang in my house, and that I can afford!
